Max Borghi Scouting ReportMax is a strong and compact back with good lower body strength. He is a good athlete with good short area agility. His short area quickness is very explosive. He gets to top speed rather quickly. He is best suited on the perimeter in the zone read game but has some production while running inside. Max is very good in the passing game. He has good hands to catch the ball out of the backfield on check downs, screen and other passes. He is sufficient route runner who will likely beat LBS with speed in the passing game. He is sufficient in pass protection and demonstrates a willingness to block blitzing linebackers. He projects as a very good core special teams player. He has added value as a kick returner.

Areas for ImprovementMax has mostly clear air production, which is concerning. He is not an inside runner and should not be utilized in this regard. He runs with the inclination to get outside and use his speed. He is a bit tight hipped and lacks elusivenees in space. He will likely try to outrun defenders in the passing game. He lacks instinctive feel adn foot work to be a good inside runner. Max is not refined in the passing game in terms of route running. He also does not know how to uncover underneath. He does not have great size. He could be limited to a 3rd down and/or special teams role in the NFL. He needs to work on his technique and hand placement as a pass protector.

Max Borghi Career at Washington StateMax Borghi, full name Massimiliano Borghi attended Pomona High School. As a Senior, selected as Colorado's outstanding senior football player, scholar and citizen by The Denver Post. He was also named 5A State Player of the Year and All State first team after rushing for 1,690 yards and 27 touchdowns with seven 100 yard efforts. Max enrolled early in January, 2018. He participated in spring practice, in Crimson and Gray Spring Game he rushed four times for 10 yards and a touchdown, caught four pass for 16 yards. For the season he was named Pac 12 Freshman of the Year honorable mention. He appeared in all 13 games, starting two. Max's sophomore campaign in 2019, was named to Doak Walker Award Watch List. He was named Preseason All Pac 12 honorable mention. He was named Pac 12 Conference Honorable Mention. He started all 13 games at running back. He rushed 127 attempts for 817 yards and 11 touchdowns. He caught a team high 86 balls for 597 yards and five touchdowns. In his junior campaign, he appeared in one game, at Utah. His senior campaign was the only player in the country named to the Doak Walker Award (top college running back) and Biletnikoff Award (top college receiver) preseason watch lists. He was named Preseason All America Honorable Mention by PFF College. He was named to Preseason All Pac 12 First Team (Athlon, Pac 12 Media). Max Borghi NFL Draft Player ProfileBorghi is not a typical running back projection by any means. While he has good hands, Borghi lacks a diverse route tree, and his adeptness as a receiver may not be all projectable to the next level. However, as a pure runner, Borghi falls below the line of a few key areas.
