Otito Ogbonnia Scouting ReportOtito delivers a strong punch and uses his hands to shed blocks to make plays in the hole or outside the box. He uses lower body strength to anchor inside. He provides some secondary itnerior pass rush. He gets most penetration when playing three technique. He has good strength and balance to sit down. Ogbonnia plays with leverage at the point of attack whether inside or outside. He keeps his eyes in the backfield when inside, move linemen to either side with strong hands. He penetrates through gaps, often forcing running backs to elude him or the back end of the offensive lineman he is pushing before they even reach the line.

Areas for ImprovementOtito plays too high at times. He gets carried downfield or put to the ground by better lineman when losing the leverage battle. He does not play fundamentally sound and lacks much technique in his reprtoire. He needs to keep his pad level low. He pops upright and plays too tall. He struggles to maintain leverage off the snap. He might be limited to one gap systems. He lacks the violent hands to shed and can be eliminated by double team blocks.

Otito Ogbonnia Career at U.C.L.A.Otito Ogbonnia is a two-time All-District Selection, Ogbonnia was ranked as the No. 38 defensive tackle recruit in the country and the No. 86 football recruit in the state of Texas according to 247 Sports. He was ESPN.com’s No. 44 defensive tackle prospect in the nation and No. 81 football recruit in Texas. Otito competed in 13 meets after transferring over from football. His best indoor mark in the shot put came at the MPSF Indoor Championships, where he placed seventh with an effort of 18.38m (60-3.75). He finished sixth at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, posting a mark of 17.81m (58-5.25). He won the shot put in his Bruin outdoor debut with a mark of 18.09m (59-4.25) at the Willie Williams Classic. Otito saw action in all 12 games along the defensive front in 2018. He started six games. Following year he saw action in all 12 games, with five starts. In 2020, he saw action in all 7 games. He started games against Southern Cal and Stanford. IN his final season he started all 12 games on the defensive front. He had multiple tackles in seven games. He was second team All Pac 12 selection by PFF.

Otito Ogbonnia NFL Draft Player ProfileOgbonnia was the Bruins' most productive defensive lineman in 2021 and second-most productive in 2020 behind only Osa Odighizuwa, who left UCLA early to enter last year's NFL Draft. Ogbonnia went in the third round to the Dallas Cowboys and is a Pro Bowl candidate as a rookie.
