Name Scouting Report David Anenih is a two-year starter who primarily lined up at defensive end for Houston. Undersized but explosive college defensive end who projects to outside linebacker in the NFL. He plays with terrific pad level, keeps his feet moving, and effectively rushes the edge. David breaks down well and is rarely off his feet. Anenih is tough, fights hard, and works his hands to protect himself. He flows laterally in pursuit of the action and gives effort defending the run. He possesses good change-of-direction skills and speed from the backside. He is effective in pursuit and works to make plays in space.
Areas for Improvement David is undersized and must get the first step on opponents or he’s easily blocked from the action. His pass-rushing production was nothing outstanding. He can get out of control and work himself away from the action.
David Anenih Career at School Anenih ahree-star recruit by Rivals, Scout and 247Sports and No. 13 linebacker in the state of Texas by Scout. David had 40 tackles and nine tackles for loss as a junior, was coached by head coach James Brown. He also competed in track and field for Mansfield Timberview HS. Anenih signed with Houston over Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech among others. As a true freshman, Davis appeared in nine games totaling six tackles, two of which were sacks during the 2017 season. In his sophomore campaign, Anenih saw action in all 13 games. He was third on the team with four sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. During his junior campaign, he played in 12 games making eight starts at defensive end. He recorded 26 tackles and 7 tackles for loss. He tied the team lead with 5 sacks. In the pandemic shortened season, David appeared in all eight games making seven starts. He posted 17 tackles with 6.5 tackles for loss. He finished second on the team and ranked fifth in The American with 4.5 sacks.
