Diego Fagot Scouting Report

Diego has enough athleticism to drop in coverage and penetrate the pocket. Has good experience as a four-year starter. He flashes strength to punch or stiff-arm to get off blocks. Stays with plays downfield, often making tackles even after being hit by multiple linemen. He will always try to plow into the largest piles and has a good knack of ending up glued to the ballcarrier.

Diego has coordinated footwork and balance. Makes more plays in pass coverage than expected because of his natural football instincts. Gets his hands in the passing lanes. Effort is mere in coverage.

Areas for Improvement

Fagot generally an effective openfield tackler but doesn't wrap up consistently. Shows only average awareness in coverage. He possesses below-average instincts for the linebacker position. Leaves more plays on the field than he makes. He must learn to use hands to beat blocks. He locates the ball but takes circuitous routes to go get to it. Should use power and long arms to take on and disengage from blocks. Inefficient with his angles. He does not blow up targets. Many inside tackles are catch-and-drags, which will be more difficult to make at the next level.

Diego Fagot Career at School

Elected as one of four team captains by his teammates, which is one of the greatest honors a Navy student-athlete can receive. He enters the fall listed as the starter at MIKE linebacker. Diego has started 23 of the last 24 games dating back to 2018 (1 Fr // 13 So // 9 Jr). He has earned three varsity letters.

Diego Fagot NFL Draft Player Profile

First and foremost, intelligence. To become an officer in the United States military there is a lot of studying and preparation involved. As the middle linebacker, he had to be one of the smartest players, if not the smartest, on the field. He was a little extra jazzed up for the game against Army and took a couple penalties he doesn’t usually take, but he will instantly bring discipline to whatever team he joins. His intensity and passion are second to none. Fagot had 282 total tackles in his time at Navy with 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions. Due to his athleticism, he also managed to pull off a fake punt against Army which is pictured above.
