Quentin Lake NFL Draft Profile
|
Quentin Lake Scouting ReportQuintin Lake has aligned in various places for the Bruins defense and can be classified as a safety. He is a sufficient-level athlete with regards to speed, quickness, and agility. In the run game, he is not a physical presence by any means. He is more of a drag-down tackler who gets the ball-carrier on the ground. He has shown moments of good efficiency, rarely missing tackles, particularly on the perimeter. In the passing game, he is a versatile piece that can play in the low hole, in split-safety looks, and single-high. He shows good hands to secure the interception against off-target throws. On third downs, he can also be the money linebacker, as he shows the instincts and football IQ to handle all of the required tasks. He is someone whose traits likely won't hear his name called in the draft, but he could earn a roster spot based on special teams and the intangibles that he brings to the safety position. |
Areas for ImprovementLake needs to get stronger. He is too easily lost in the trash. He is not a sudden athlete and shows body stiffness when attempting to quickly redirect. Quentin is not an explosive player and needs to show better bend and flexibility in his drops and he plays too high. Lake takes poor angles on the ball. He lacks the pure speed to chase down the ballcarrier. He will slip off tackles and needs to finish more consistently. Quentin is willing but not threatening tackler. He does not have the quick-twitch reaction when he gears down to rebuild to top speed. He is more instinctive than explosive.
