Bridgewater baby' I can smell it folks
I could be wrong , but I think the plan is to have Darnold start week 1.
That could change come camp/ preseason.
Teddy seemed to struggle during mini camp with interceptions.

the smart thing would be have Darnold ready for game 4 (at the earliest) because first three games in ten days maybe too much for any rookie to handle... he seems like he is grasping things well but having a McCown or Bridgewater command the offense in that time span might be the smarter move...
drafting any QB in the top ten you want them to take the reigns as soon as possible but we dont need him to fail early and have a harder time to recover if he is truly the franchise guy for us long term...

I’m as anxious as every other Jets fan to see Sam start. But only if he wins the job over both Teddy and Josh. Putting him in too early if he’s not ready could set him and the team back. Patience will probably be necessary to start the season. I’d be very surprised if a 21 year old kid will be 100% ready to go on Sept 10th. Personally, I’d love to give Bridgewater an audition to see what he can do. We might catch lightning in a bottle with him. And then we can trade him for a high draft pick if we transition to Darnold mid season. Someone is inevitably going to need a QB at some point due to injury.
This situation could play out beautifully for Macc. If Teddy plays well, we could get a 2nd round pick for him, recovering the 2nd round pick we lost in the trade.
I agree but Teddy could end up being the guy for us & Sam could end up being a Dud. Let the best man win & keep him
Bridgewater won’t be on the roster long enough to see whether or not Darnold is the answer. Sam Darnold is the long term plan. Macc is going to showcase Teddy in the preseason to see if a QB needy team wants to give up a high draft pick for him.
IMHO.
I agree folks but only if Sam is not a Dud & Teddy is not the Stud. Don't just work off Hype
I don’t think it’s so much about hype as it is about probability. Bridgewater still has to pass the full contact drills. His knee injury was about as bad an injury as they come. He also has a brief resume with the Vikings. He proved that he was a starting caliber QB in that short time, but Darnold was drafted to be the guy. You don’t trade away that kind of draft capital to move up to #3 for a QB unless you’re confident he’s the long term solution.
The Jets have all their hopes riding on Darnold. Bridgewater is an insurance policy for 2018. Even if Teddy plays well, he’s not going to stay with the Jets beyond 2019, and more likely, beyond 2018.
Jets needs to sit Darnold this season and allow him time to learn the book. Remember Darnold hasnt played QB very long and done well for only playing QB 4 years. LB to QB is big jump to NFL QB. Putting him out early a failing might have a big effect thinking he hasnt played QB as long as most. I'm pulling for Darnold only because Jets drafted him not because I felt he was the best QB. The best QB was Allen imo ,that Bills grabbed. Allen right now is running away from everyone and is the big talk at Bills camp. Give Darnold time and hopefully next season he will be ready.
