He is better at changing direction in small increments than he is at cutting back. Smith is a strong runner. He keeps his legs churning even while in a pile. He offers some brute strength. Abram is fearless out of the backfield. He really puts his shoulder down well to pick up an extra yard or two. He can drag defenders. Smith accelerates and hits his top speed rather quickly. He is very explosive. He hits the hole with such explosion that he cuts through traffic with his strength. Abram reads his blocks well. He is much more of a north/south runner than a stretch/boundary runner. Abram is among the best in the country at understanding defenders and manipulating their pursuit with his movement. Abram Smith Career at SchoolAbram Smith popped in the 2021 season after moving full-time to the running back position from the linebacker position. He was a fun piece to study in the Baylor offense in 2021, utilized as a halfback and even, at times, as a fullback. His natural running ability is evident, a product of the 5000+ yards he gained at Abilene High. Abram Smith NFL Draft Player ProfileAbram Smith projects as a rotational first/second down back who can bring the power to special teams coverage as well. His north/south running style is a little bit less utilized than most, but he shows the ability to hold up in pass protection and with his uncanny ability to find space as a runner, he could be a steal in that range.
