Aamre Barno Scouting Report

Amare plays with leverage at the point of attack whether inside or outside. Keeps eyes in the backfield when inside; moves linemen to either side with strong hands. He has the classic frame and long arms with some explosion, power and ability to close. He has tremendous explosion and accelerates low with power.

Amare has relentless blindside pursuit; tracks down ballcarriers across the field. Has a quick burst off the line and times the snap well. Good upper-body strength and length to lock-out his opponent and at least moderate lateral agility to slide inside or spill out to contain.

Amare challenges inside with quickness and strong hands. Run-and-chase defender who can leave a mark. His vision to locate the ball and recognize cut blocks. Can rip past blockers and pull down ballcarriers when he cannot fully disengage from linemen. He's not an elite pass rusher and projects as a left end in a 4-3 defense. If he layers on more muscle, he might fit in the 3-4.

Amare has the size, strength and versatility should push him into the top 75 picks. He flashes nimble feet to chase running backs and mobile quarterbacks to the sideline when lined up at end. Spins off blocks to get back into the play.

Areas for Improvement

Barno stands up well against the run but is very pursuit-conscious and will take unneeded wide angles. He rarely the first player off the snap, even when lined up over the ball, but his length, effort and short-area quickness still pressures double teams and helps penetrate gaps.
