Andrew Stueber Scouting Report

Andrew has an excellent frame, he doesn't have much bad weight in him. He moves really well. He is a great bender and is very athletic for his size. He is very good run blocker because he also does a good job level keeping his balance when moving forward. He has great wingspan and that's helped him a lot in pass protection. Has good arm length to be able to push pass rushers past the pocket. He flashes an effective kick step. He plays with adequate balance and lateral quickness. He has good grip strength to engulf defenders and steer them when he gets hands on.

Stueber is quick off the snap. He has tremendous burst and is strong with initial punch. He drives his legs well while maintaining engaged on the defender. He can scrape and get to the linebackers quickly, and he has the body control to make the block. He is a natural right tackle, but could develop into a left tackle.

Areas for Improvement

Andrew is not a gritty, physical finisher. He has a lean lower body and does not explode on contact. He can be inverted by power and does not carry a load in his hands. He could do a better job recognizing and adjusting to the outside blitz. He is a quirky personality that can be easily misunderstood. Andrew is a big fish in a small pond. He has limited range, and needs to improve his pass protection. He needs to widen his base and sit back more. He needs to work on his kick step.

Andrew Stueber NFL Draft Player Profile

Another fifth-year senior who elected to take advantage of the extra year of eligibility, Stueber returns in 2020 as an anchor along Michigan’s offensive line. He’s not only experienced but versatile, having played tackle and guard since arriving at Michigan in 2017. An ACL injury sidelined him for all of 2019, but Stueber was productive as a guard in the shortened 2019 season. He’s expected to kick out to his more natural position, tackle, in 2020 — but the 6-foot-7, 339-pound Connecticut native could project as a guard in the NFL. A full season injury-free with high marks could make him an appealing pro prospect in 2022, especially given Michigan’s history of producing NFL-caliber offensive linemen.
