Another attribute of Fitz that seems to be forgotten

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, even the 10-6, over the course of the season would have gotten the Jets in the playoffs, if they had beaten the Bills once.

Jets were tied with the Steelers @ 10-6, also tied in Div. 3-3 and tied in conf. 7-5. if the Jets had beaten the Bills just once an still at 10-6 they would have had a better Div, and Conf record then the steelers
just another example of some games being dramatically more important then others..

always has been that way & always will be..

And if the Jets lose to the Pats the week before, the whole conversation is moot.

Well, it's better than 8-8.

And if your only barometer of a good season is making the playoffs, you're ignoring several factors. There have been 9, and even 8 win teams that have made the playoffs. Did that make them better than 10 or 11 win teams that haven't?
we had this long winded debate months ago.. forgive me for not wishing to relive it..

Just curious, if you blame Bowles for Week 17, do you also credit him for the 5-0 record in the previous five games?

Of course. With the caveat that 5 victories came against all teams with losing records.....

The Pats were among the teams the Jets beat when they went 5-1 in their final six games. They had a losing record?

In all fairness, the whole team spit the bit in that game, as they did in the first match against the Bills.

Fitz is a good, efficient QB, who the team accepts as their leader. Every one knows he is NOT an elite QB in the mold of Manning/Brady, who when the O is not performing as a well oiled machine, can put the team on his back and make amazing throws in the 4th quarter to salvage a poor effort by the whole Offense. When Fitz is forced to do that, by an uninspired team, bad things are going to happen. Very few QB's in the league can do that on a consistent basis. Certainly NOBODY else the Jets have as a QB right now can do it.

Even Manning and Brady have been made to look like bums in prime time by good D's who are playing at a high level.

This certainly doesn't mean that Todd Bowles is a bust as a HC. He was a rookie HC who's team was out played by a team that just flat out wanted it more. Twice. You may hate Rex as a HC, and have a valid argument, but he unquestionably is a top DC, who as a HC can get his team to play at a high level in certain games.

If the Jets are to have a step up, make the play offs , and win some games, Todd is also going to have to grow, and learn from his experience. He's said so as much himself.

To say that Fitz can't get the team to the play offs because he never has before,is as invalid as the big claim last year, when a lot of people were saying Jets were going to be a 6-10 team , because Fitz sucked, and had never had a winning record in the NFL.

They won 10 games last year which in 90% of years is enough to get a team to the play offs. Circumstances didn't allow that. One of the major circumstances that prevented it, was losing to a division rival, who is coached by the Jets previous HC, Twice.

Team wasn't prepared either time. Hopefully that changes this year.

Agreed on all counts, however that does not alleviate Bowles of his negligence. It starts at the top and who is at the top FLgreen?

So I stand corrected on one, and might I add it was the only time the Jets beat a team with a winning record in 2015, hence the reason for my caveat......
