My second favorite all-time Jets #2 RB so I'm happy to have him back if he's healthy.
For the record, by favorite #2 Jets RB was Johnny Hector.

Nice to have him back but I’m wondering what he has left in the tank? Will the Jets even carry four RBs? If so then I’m guessing they won’t carry an FB on the roster. Also, will Powell be more of a locker room and leader type of guy and will he even get any time? Will this be a three headed monster with Bell, McGuire and Montgomery?

Question for you and Ham, either of you guys ever heard of Curtis Martin? You know, the RB that Bill Parcells stole from the Patriots and Martin did wonders for us for about 8 years. Ever heard of that guy!
Absolutely, but he wasn't a #2 RB, he was clearly the #1 .... and rightfully a Hall of Famer.
The question was about #2. Martin was a #1. Snell was #1 and Boozer was #2 on the same team. And when Martin put those two balls on the ground, he dropped in my estimation.

happy to see powell get another shot. i haven't seen details, but assumedly it's a 1-year deal with low (or no) guarantees. given bell and montgomery both have injury histories (as does powell), more depth isn't a bad thing. i'm still optimistic on mcguire, but the competition will bring out the best in all. cannon will need to show something to earn a roster spot.

They're giving Powell every chance to recover before the season, that in itself is a classy move for a quiet team first guy.
If he doesn't earn a spot it's because his injury was horrific, if he does it's a good story.
If Powell can get back to his normal game, he would be dangerous paired with bell. Both in a 2 back set can get open in a lot of different ways. Play action all day. What defenses have 2 linebackers on the field that can cover both these guys at once?
Play action to bell to the right, defense freezes, Powell gets open left sideline, Anderson is sprinting deep right sideline, while Herndon is crossing the field on a15 yard slant, and oh yea after a chip block, bell is 20 yards deep shadowing Anderson on the right.
