Boye Mafe Scouting ReportBoye Mafe has the flashes of quickness and tenacity with his hands to be a quality stand-up rusher. He has good speed. He has exceptional lateral quicknes, and the ability to work around blocks. He has excellent footwork and smooth criminal laterally. He looks almost like he is gliding. Excellent first step, causing lineman to stumble and lose balance. He has very strong upper body, really dictates the blocker throughout his rush with how he has to be countered. Boye has posted ridiculous weight room numbers. He gets lower while engaging ball carriers. He shows very solid pure strength. He shows great flexibility getting very low on his bend. He flashes good hand usage. He has the ability to use a little rip move and swim past the blocker. Boye is a very smart, football intelligence and heady general intelligent player. He reads and reacts to the concept very well. He is capable of dropping into man coverage against certain running backs effectively. He works through traffic well.

Areas for ImprovementMafe has stiffness as an athlete limits his overall ability outside of pass-rushing, though. He does not show much ability to work through double teams. He is a decent tackler, technique is raw but can be improved. He does have a tendency to cheat inside too far at times and does not have the speed to recover. Mafe struggles to gain back any leverage or consistency after a counter and almost checks out of the play. He relies on physical gifts alone for the most part. Is inconsistent in run defense hasn't let learned the nuances of the game. He will need to improve his hand use where he sometimes looks undisciplined. .

Boye Mafe Career at MinnesotaAnnounced on Dec. 27, 2021, that he was forgoing his remaining eligibility after the Guaranteed Rate Bowl and declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft. He played in 42 career games • made 87 tackles (59 solo). Mafe totaled 19.5 tackles for loss and 15 sacks (ranks ninth all-time in school history). He forced three fumbles and broke up three passes.

Boye Mafe NFL Draft Player ProfileBoye is fast with excellent wide and bull rushes when he is first off the snap. He will play with good lateral agility and he shows enough balance to be able to contribute early at the next level. He still has some techinal aspects to clean up but as a situational pass rusher he can rush from a two and/or three point stance withe playing speed to stand up in space. He flashes the strength as a bull rusher and has a lot stored energy.
