Areas for Improvement

Brewer is too aggressive and bites hard on misdirection. Could be a one-year wonder. He has average size, strength and lacks the bulk in his upper and lower body to hold up on the line. He is not a sudden athlete. Very ordinary flexibility and fluidity; not overly explosive and lacks the speed to threaten the edge. Plays upright with limited power to disengage _and is not overpowering in any aspect.

Brewer is average athletically with average straight line speed and tight hips. Not a natural bender. Lacks secondary pass-rush moves. He lacks overpowering strength and can stick to blocks. Lacks explosive speed to bend and flatten off the corner with stiff hips and ankles. Not flexible or fluid. Not a quick-twitch athlete or naturally flexible short-area player. Fails to rely when initial push is halted.

CJ Brewer NFL Draft Player Profile

CJ Brewer is not the fastest, especially considering his size. Brings some serious lateral quickness to his game. Surprisingly rangy for a player of his stature and size. Strong upper body. Brings a lot of brute power to the field. Flashes a very solid first step. Sudden and quick. Average explosion. Doesn’t have the hand technique to really make the most of his explosive first step. Doesn’t really have a set plan on certain reps.

Great hand strength. Very strong arms and hands to be a powerful, explosive interior. Effective tackler when collapsing on a gap. Strong wrap up form and collapse. Controls the tackler decently well. Pursuits well both to the outside as well as working off of a block. Smart defender. Shows good instincts. Looks like he spends a lot of extra time in the film room. Average pass rusher at the position. Won’t be a huge impact player in the interior.
