We hoped we had nailed down the left tackle position for nine years or so, but this guy is worryingly injury-prone. You need your starting left tackle to be available for more than nine games a season or so.

I think Flacco realises these are his last chances to start in the NFL and wants to play, so long as he doesn't get too badly beaten up. His advice to Sam is 'Take your time with the injury, son'. Against the Pats he overtook Montana for overall passing yards.
