Esezi Otomewo Scouting ReportEsezi has a very solid first step that is difficult to contain or predict. He has a strong swim move that he uses well. He is very explosive, and has a strong upper body. He has decent lower body drive with good balance. He has the bend ability to work inside of his rush and dip under the blocker. Esezi works through the blocker and is difficult to fight off. He has solid hand strength with exceptional placement. He has an excellent stiff arm up high that he uses well to keep leverage through a power rush.

Areas for ImprovementOtomewo will struggle to move. He has a lot of wasted motion in his technique. He lacks some lateral quickness. He does not have the body control you normally see in an edge rusher. He should try to improve his lower body drive. His functional strength and play strength is well below average. Otomewo is a lunge tackler. He does not show great wrap up ability but tries to overwhelm the runner with the force of his body. He looks hesitant to tackle at times. He struggles to finish the tackle. He is not particularly strong containing ball carriers. His pursuit angles could be better and struggles to collapse on the gap during run plays. .

Esezi Otomewo Career at MinnesotaAnnounced on Jan. 2, 2021, that he was forgoing his final season of eligibility and entering the 2022 NFL Draft. He started 20 of 46 games. He made 81 tackles, including 7.5 sacks.

Esezi Otomewo NFL Draft Player ProfileEsezi Otomewo has an intriguing projection. He’s a power rusher who struggles to offer much more support, either as a run defender or as a pass defender. He best projects as a situational power rusher in a 4-3 set from a three-point stance. Otomewo in the fifth/seventh-round range. He has some tools that teams will find intriguing but until he can clean up some of his tackling ability, he will be limited almost strictly as a pass rusher at the next level.
