GGN -- Yesterday was a tough game to watch. How did it get to this? After a promising 10 win season in 2015, the Jets are sitting at 3-6 and staring down the barrel of a horrible forgettable campaign. My question yesterday wasn't so much how it happened, but how we'd managed to win 3 games?

Yesterday was even worse than feared. Not only did we see Fitzpatrick struggle through another game, throwing a pick to a 300lb defensive lineman and then spraining his MCL. We saw two of our best players benched for the 1st quarter, reportedly for being late to a team meeting.

If you believe the report out of NJ.com today, both Sheldon Richardson and Muhammad Wilkerson make missing and being late to meetings a habit. Not exactly the kind of role models you want for Leonard Williams, a player who may end up being better than both of them. Do the Jets have any accountability? If true, does this show a lack of respect by the players for head coach Todd Bowles? I can't answer any of those without being in the facility, but it's a worrying sign. Especially when you consider how undisciplined the Jets were yesterday, and how it seemed as though many players were there to get shots in rather than play football.

We're in the second year of head coach Todd Bowles reign as Jets head coach and the team looks to be regressing. Some of it is just down to good players not playing well. Some of it is down to a lack of talent in certain areas. Some of it is down to ageing veterans who are hitting a steep decline in production. However some of it needs to rest squarely on the shoulders of the Head Coach.

There have been a number of miscommunication for the Jets, on both sides of the ball. Through the first few weeks of the season, you can expect that. However if it's still happening in week 9, then that's on coaching. In game adjustments seem to be non-existent, that's on coaching. Forte was running well, and then he heads to the sideline and we under utilize his replacement in Bilal Powell...that's on coaching.

The more I see of Todd Bowles, the less I'm inclined to believe he has what it takes to be a head coach in this league.
When your season is being flushed down the toilet, you want a self aware coach. If we can't win this year (and we can't win this year, not with this team), you need to start figuring out how to win next year, and the year after, and the year after that. So I was amazed that Bowles quickly reiterated to the media following a crushing loss to a poor Dolphins team (we're just even worse) that Fitzpatrick is the QB going forward.

What purpose does that offer?
Fitzpatrick, the man who will be a 34 year old free agent after this year.
Fitzpatrick, a man who has captained this team to a 3-6 record this year.
Fitzpatrick, a man who is completing just over 55% of his passes this year.
Fitzpatrick, a man who has thrown 5 more interceptions than TD's this year.

This doesn't make any sense and Todd Bowles needs to be questioned about it. I understand that you have to sell tickets and you have to get people excited about the product that you're pushing. The NFL is a business, I think everyone who has been a fan of this league understands that. However this season is lost, and the way to build excitement among the fans is to insert Bryce Petty as your QB.

If Bowles continues to play Fitzpatrick, then the pressure will continue to mount on him, because we'll continue to lose games without moulding our future plans. If we play Bryce and he starts winning some games and playing well, brilliant! You get him some experience going into 2017. If we place Bryce and he's terrible and we continue to lose games, at least we know what we have, and we have some game tape on him to evaluate.

Please, please please Todd Bowles, make the decision that's best for you, best for the fans and best for the franchise. Give Bryce a chance, lets get a head start on planning for 2017, as 2016 has been an absolute disaster.

Let's just keep in mind that should petty start 4 games and suck, tread water, or earn player of the month, it does not necessarily predict his future. Good QB's can have horrid starts, bad QB's can impress, and all can give false first impressions.

Not to be negative, just saying to have patience one way or the other, after all we have no say in what happens anyway.

i fully expect bowles will do what's best for the "fans" as well as the "franchise.." just, inadvertently..

my belief is he will continue to start fitzpatrick (holding on like grim death) until loss number 8.. in that scenario, i suspect he'll believe he can still get to 9-7 & that means he still has a shot at the playoffs..

this strategy should help push maccagnan/johnson in the direction that bowles simply is not the long term answer at HC..

plus if petty does come in & wait for it..... plays well, bowles will look even more like a dope for picking the wrong guy to save the season.. double whammy!!

starting Petty does two things give him live reps and film to study from...

regardless on how he does is irrelevant at this point...

if he comes in and does well fans will cheer...

if he comes in and flops some fans will want his head on the chopping block...

but the team still feels right now because of experience Fitzpatrick still gives us the best chance to win... win what?, is my question... 3-6, where we going?, run the table? seriously? does anyone notice our record?

I hope you're right with this. The season is over. This team downright one of the very worst teams in the league this season. The plan going forward should finding a QB solution for this team and finding Todd Bowles replacement. Bowles is one of the worst coaches I have ever seen coach this team and we all know there's been some pretty bad ones.........

P.S. As much as I hate to admit it, I am rooting for this team to lose out. Get a better draft pick and hope for the future.

Posting this for a third time with the 10, 000 other QB threads we have:

Let me apologize and say this is probably all my fault Jets faithful... Maybe this is on me and others like me who dislike Fitsgarbage as much as I do with a FUCKING PASSION, that TB won't see the light and bench that Hack of a QB for Petty or Hack. Maybe God is punishing us. I want this so damn bad and have been on Fitzshitty's ass for so long that maybe were just doomed with this idiot until (who knows when). No matter what happens, we just can't seem to get rid of this guy. I mean this is worst then the Sanchez crisis. At least Sanchez was a young and developing player at the time and we all hoped he would blossom but he didn't. Fitz is a old washed up journeymen who was never that good in the first place.

I'm blaming myself here because I never personally wanted him in the first place but when they did sign him last year, I never thought in a million years he would start but then came jawbreak gate. Then he has a very good season all to nout because they don't even make the playoffs. Then these morons resign him, which was understandable but I be damned if I didn't want him back. Now we have this horrid season to deal with, in which he should have been benched a game or two earlier then he did. Then when he finally gets benched, Geno gets hurt again without even playing a full half and now TB won't bench him again even though this seems to be the perfect time to do it.

Knowing our luck, no matter how Fitz plays and whether he gets benched or not, they will probably resign his ass for a three year deal for $60 mil. So I know I'm reaching and over exaggerating here but what the hell is it? Does Fitz have photos on TB, Gainey, Mac and the Johnson doing drugs together or running a train on a prostitute or at some weird perverted S & M club or something? I mean what the hell is it, REALLY??? If it isn't that then is God just punishing us fans who what Fitz gone so bad, that it's not morally correct to think the things we think. Obviously this isn't the case but I would really like to know because the Jets are obviously out of the playoff race. With any QB on our roster and if TB or anyone else on the coaching staff or management believes they are, they're idiots!!!

Just wonder if it's the team or Bowles/Gailey that believes it still has the best chance to win with Fitz. Either way you have to wonder how bad Petty must look in practice to not be considered to start in place of someone who is now a boat anchor to our team. The last game against Miami had all of Fitz's misgivings on display:

* Missing a wide open Marshall in the end zone
* Missing a wide open Robby Anderson sprinting towards to end zone
* Throwing two horrible interceptions (one in the redzone)
* Doing just enough to not totally suck and keep the coaches hoping

The above is the Jets ground hog day nightmare. With that as a backdrop, again, how bad must Petty look in practice to not warrant a look as a starter with the body of work that Fitz has put forth this season - OR - Is Boles/Gailey just that stubborn and/or stupid..

This has nothing to with Petty looking bad in practice....

This has everything to do with feeling like going to Petty means this season is over.. And Bowles and Macc are holding onto the hope of winning out and making the playoffs..... So until we have lost 8 games ( with the standings as they are 9-7 might get the last wildcard this year)... we have no shot at seeing Petty..

I prefer to see Petty play 6-7 games and get a real good look at him... to mykcuz's point I rather have 6-7 games to dissect and look at the good and the bad so I can make a decision moving forward.... Yes he can look great and it's fools gold or he can look like crap and go on to be the next Brady.... But we need the tape to evaluate to have a better idea of what we have... We can get some variables and make a better decision than having no real time variables to make a decision

which math example is easier to solve

X+Y = Z

or

9y - 6 + y + 8 = 42

Good article and exactly how I feel except I truly believe the TB has lost this team already. Its evident by the team's extremely poor performance. His ineptitude is only exceeded by his insistence on staying the course... unfortunately it is Kotitisc.... which I never thought I live to see again. :global (37)::global (23):
