Actually I was expecting this. When they put Schweitzer on IR I figured they would add someone and McGovern was not only still available he knows the scheme from experience and could also play center if need be. This was probably a smart move.
RB Valladay, who saw quite a bit of pre-season action, was the corresponding cut. The guy never showed anything special and we decided to keep Izzy. We also resigned LB Sirmon, who was a late pre-season cut, to the PS, the Jets are a bit thin at LB. Don't know who was released to free the spot.
He dislocated his knee cap in Oct and underwent surgery in Dec. Don't think he is in game shape as of now. He remained a free agent all off season so no camp time.
He was one of 7 players the Jets worked out. All centers and guards.
Hopefully being on the practice squad will give him enough time to get back in shape before and if the Jets need him to play. At least he won't have to relearn the scheme or playbook.
