HC Saleh on Mekhi Becton

deserved and not surprising considering Saleh's comments
but not sure it makes sense.......Fant was a different cat on the right side.....and Saleh certainly left door open for Becton to claim LT back. Not sure it fits right and this season you have to be careful that it isn't the exception. Then again, Fant was a Joe Douglas 'find' and maybe he would lock him up. Tackles are expensive and maybe the confidence in Becton is not there. I'm gonna weigh in on side of no deal - Joe might be trying to get a bargain which I can understand, but Fant won't bite.

I think the change in scheme had alot to do with Fants success and the coaching staff wants him back

Since theres a thread expanding on this, it appears the job is Fants to lose due to Becto
We'll see how good Wirfs truly is @ RT next year once not being hidden behind a HOF QB who gets the ball out quicker than any QB of All-Time not named Dan Marino.

Brady retired.
AB is gone.
Gronk is leaving.
Chris Godwin won't be playing early on (ACL).

ETC.

We'll finally get to see Wirfs exposed @ RT and I'm anxious to see how he'll perform once surrounded by crap situations.

All I know is I really hope Mekhi Becton comes back focused and determined to become the Franchise LT I know he was born to become. Because during his Rookie season when he was on the field he was the most dominant Jet I've seen since Revis he was absolutely dominant. There's no way I'd trade him away before seeing him redeem himself as a 3rd year player.
Whirfs was better than Becton year 1, year 2 no Becton so Whirfs wins by default

Since you live for this shit:
Bectons pass block win rate ranked 49th among tackles. He ranked 16th in run block win rate .

See there are much more import things then the stats you copy and paste, the eye test and context to the stats your googling to try and impress.
Like his playing with a chest injury. Affects those stats .

Been trying to explain that to him for months with no success.

No context?

I can't go off of 2021 because Mekhi Becton got injured but Wirfs is no better because he got hurt too and couldn't play vs the Rams because of it and injury to Mekhi doesn't make Wirfs better by default.

Let's use context for their Rookie season.

Throw Wirfs @ Franchise LT as a Rookie with...

☆ A.) Sam Darnold @ QB instead of Tom Brady.

☆ B.) Chris Herndon @ TE instead of Rob Gronkowski.

☆ C.) Breshad Perriman, Denzel Mims and Jamison Crowder instead of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown @ WR.

☆ D.) Frank Gore and Le'Veon Bell instead of Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette @ RB.

How's that for Context?

And then put Mekhi Becton @ TBs RT position during his Rookie year and then tell me who would've looked better and graded higher. Mekhi Becton would've.

When a certain grading site gave Mekhi Becton only a 74.4 Rookie Grade but Tristan Wirfs an 84.6? That grading site didn't use "context" and completely ignored all 4 examples of A-D while grading both of these players.

Which is why I find so many flaws in a lot of grading sites and that is because not only do they not use context but they'll also ignore overall player surroundings (especially while Mekhi Becton was @ LT surrounded by crap in comparison to Wirfs @ RT who's been surrounded by Heaven.

Don't worry. I live in Tampa Bay. I'll soon get my wish. To see how Wirfs looks once surrounded by Kyle Trask type of trash everywhere on his TB Offense and no longer hidden behind Tom Brady (who outside of Dan Marino gets the ball out quicker than any QB I've ever witnessed). He'll get exposed next year. I'm 100% confident in it.

Wirfs plays an easier RT position and was surrounded by Heaven as a Rookie and Mekhi Becton plays a difficult LT position and was surrounded by Jets Offensive Hell; does that make Wirfs better or just more fortunate? You'll see next year.
Were talking LTs. Man on man vs their assignments. That's also how grading sites formulate their grades. Of course you ignore them.
Now if we follow your formula, Barry Sanders sucks right? 10 years online 1 playoff win and 1 playoff TD in 10 years......
Becton career 739 snaps
Whirfs 2256 snaps 100% of his teams offensive snaps his first 2 seasons. Missed a playoff game.
I hope Becton does what he has to to get himself in shape, and then to maintain his conditioning because he has all the potential you can wish for in a player. He has to have the desire to reach that potential, but to date, he has not shown that desire.
Last thing I'll leave you to ponder. RT is an easier position.....
If you watch the games you will find there has been a trend for the past near decade, to rush the better edge/ DT from the left side of the D line or at the very least slide to both sides. It's a shorter path to the QB and allows the hit to be focused on the QBs throwing side having more effect. The RT position is every bit as difficult as the LT position and against many teams, more difficult.

Barry sanders does suck has not gained a yard in the last 10 years. Let alone a td. He was something to watch. I wish we had him
