Henry Bainivalu Scouting ReportHenry is effective in space and usually drops his hips to gain leverage and sustain against shorter defenders. He has a naturally wide base, thickly build and good length. He has long legs to cover a lot of ground with his initial kick slide. He has the quickness to set up quickly with enough lateral shuffle to mirror defenders. Henry has the mobility to get to the second level. He has the wide body who stands his ground and is especially effectively sliding to mirror and hold off outside pressure. He is a solid positional run blocker who flashes the nasty demeanor and killer instinct scouts covet. Henry anchors against larger defenders in the middle. He resets hands to maintain distance. He has enough athleticism to help on the nose tackle then pick up twist or late blitzer. He mirrors quick interior rushers. He looks to help the center when uncovered.

Areas for ImprovementBainivalu is heavy footed and lacks elite lateral agility. He will stuggle with speed rushers and footwor is a work in progress. He bends too much at the waist and overextends himself. He often gets caught lunging and leaning. He will punch at smaller defenders instead of latching on. He is more of a mauler than mover in the running game. Bainivalu can improve maintaining outside leverage when doubling the nose. He ducks his head and gets too upright, causing him to fall off second level blocks. He struggles to be consistent blocking in motion and does not have the natural foot quickness to cover a lot of ground. Bainivalu isn't an elite quick twitch blocker and his height causes him to be out quicked. He leaks inside pressure when his technique gets sloppy. He whiffs on blocks after beaten initially and lacks range with lateral quickness. He plays too high and without proper leverage, pad level and can be passive.

Henry Bainivalu Career at WashingtonHenry Bainivalu was named to the Seattle Times all state team as a senior. He was also KingCo 4A Lineman of the Year and first team 4A All KingCo at both offensive and defensive line. He helped the Spartans to a 9-3 overall record and the 4A state quarterfinals as a Senior in 2016. Attended Washington, which he did not see any action during his true freshman season which he is redshirted. He played in all 14 games as a redshirt freshman. He saw the first action of his college career against Auburn in the season opener. He saw a good deal of action at left tackle at California. Following year, he did not play in the first three games of the season, but played in all games since. Other than at Oregon State, he saw his most extensive action to date at Arizona. He also played the majority of the Colorado game and started the Apple Cup and the Las Vegas Bowl at right guard. Henry was named the UW coaches' lineman of the game for the Vegas Bowl. Bainivalu earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention and started at right guard in every game of the 2020 season. He also named to Pro Football Focus' All-Pac-12 first team and the Associated Press' All-Pac-12 second team. In 2021, he started all games at right guard. |
Henry Bainivalu NFL Draft Player ProfileHenry has the versatility and agility that make him an important piece on the Washington Huskies offensive line. He started at right guard with experience at tackle. He played primarily on the right side of the Huskies' offensive line. He has good pull and move laterally in variety of zone and man blocking schemes. Henry looks sharp and explosive in pass protection with a good kick slide. He shown good ability to mirror defenders but his footwork is still a bit choppy. He plays with a mean demeanor looking to finish off-balance defenders in the turf. His work ethich translates through his tape and he looks always to be giving high levels of effort.
