How much change over will there be on the OL?

Sack, I've had fun with you over the years about our Offensive Line. I want a strong powerful Offensive Line and a Center in the Mangold mold. I don't see McGovern as a leader. I see him as an constant IR and inconsistent player. I wish we good have drafted a good center to build with Wilson.

I think a drafted C is going to come in time. My sense is that Joe D brought in McGovern to stabilize the position with a young QB - first Sam, now Wilson.

And the one thing about a strong, powerful offensive line is that it often means less athletic. In a zone blocking scheme, especially a lot of outsize zone, you need athletic linemen who have quick feet for reach blocking and for getting to the second level.

Luke Matthews from Texas A&M or James Empey from BYU next draft could be in play for JD!

Sack, I know what you mean by scheme fitting. At the AFA we had the same type of Offensive lineman. Light, quick, and smart.

As I understand it, McGovern's play improved markedly as the season progressed last year. I agree that he was originally signed to provide some stability and experience to the position. I'd expect Douglas to draft the long term answer next year with one of the team's 2 second round or their lone 3rd round pick.

I suspect the team would love to have Clark claim/seize the RG spot, and an undrafted player like Hoge show enough to allow the cutting of marginal performers like Van Roten and/or Lewis. Feeney looks like a one year keeper because of his interior versatility and bonafide experience at center.

At RT - Fant clearly has the inside track, but with his salary and if outplayed by Edoga(this summer) - he could be history - provided the team is comfortable with another backup tackle.

Relative to Vera-Tucker and LG - the team clearly paid a premium to move up and grab him. They did so because they viewed him as one of the only 2021 offensive linemen who was ready to meaningfully contribute IMMEDIATELY.

I expect Conor McDermott(young & cheap) to make the team as a backup - as he has shown he can adequately play 4 of the 5 OL positions

I like AFA's scheme. While I do like the move a lot of teams have made toward the spread, I love the option game from under center. When I played at F&M, we ran an I and did a ton of option/triple option out of it. So versatile.

Our line was the same way. I wasn't huge, which wasn't a big detriment. My slower feet didn't help the cause, though.
