I'm just trying to explain to you, TCT, Namath might have been the most polarizing QB ever. He came around at a time when the country was divided and was seen as a symbol of the counterculture, and you can't possibly imagine how cocky he was. To say he didn't rub a lot of people the wrong way is to re-write history. Fact is, a lot of people had a visceral reaction to Namath, not unlike the way you feel about Mayfield. Others just thought he was amusing and confident. The latter tended to become Jets fans, especially young people, whereas the former were Giants fans and couldn't wait for the vaunted Colts defense to break his neck in SBIII.Yes I'm too young at almost 47. I just hate all millennials. I coach them daily and see their stupidity. I just wish he was a little more humble and a little taller. I don't have a problem with magazine covers, but he has done nothing outside of winning the Heisman. He has never won a playoff game in college. I think if he tones it down and loves being a Jet I can accept him. If not, I'm going to be rooting really hard for Teddy B.
Ironically (or not?), till this day he is the only Jets QB to actually win us a Super Bowl.
