Not that anyone wants to look towards the offseason amidst week 7 (or maybe some do) but I was discussing this idea earlier today with a fellow Jet fan at work, and starting to think it could be a good idea moving forward?
When free agency starts, clean the cupboard at QB and sign Teddy Bridgewater to a laden incentive 2 year contract to see what this guy has.
Draft: If we pick in the top 6, and assuming The projected top qbs all come out (Darnold, Allen, Rudolph, Rosen, etc). Instead of staying put at 5/6 or whatever it is and taking one of these guys...
Why not trade down to the 10-16 range while acquiring an extra 2nd plus maybe even an extra third and draft one of Lamar Jackson/Baker Mayfield. I believe (going off my memory alone) that the latest prospect rankings by one of our big experts like Kiper had Jackson pegged at 21 and Mayfield pegged at 26 or 27. So if those hold, maybe even trade back further to acquire one of these guys to pair with bridgewater?
I am assuming Jackson will increase his projection and Mayfield likely as well but there's really no way to know right now.
Thoughts?
