Is Braxton Berrios only a special teams returner?

His rookie season with the Patriots he had zero receptions, then he was waived and picked up by the Jets whom last year used him sparingly on offense where he recorded a total of six receptions for 115 yards but he was a healthy special teams returner mainly punt returns... The few receptions he made he almost took a couple the distance, so the main question will they incorporate him more on offense or mainly keep him as that punt returner not utilizing his vertical speed on offense...

Interesting on what the team does at this position, keeping six seems like the normal number at this position (receiver)...

Thought he was a valuable punt returner last year. Very steady and seemed a lock for ten yards every time he didn't fair catch. Also displayed flashes in the slot. I like what he brings.

To me, Berrios could provide depth in the slot. He might not get a roster spot if not for his specials, but that puts him over the top.

I thought Berrios played really well last year - made the most of his opportunities. He definitely makes the roster as the PR. I agree with Sack too. He can be a nice slot receiver to mix in for different packages and different looks.

ok here is the curve ball, the 2021 season for Jamison Crowder is his final year and the team could make him a cap casualty with a cap savings of $10.5 Million with a dead loss of $1 M, can Berrios succeed Crowder as that slot receiver after this season albeit if he makes the active roster... Berrios entering the third year of his rookie deal...

Maybe, but I could see holding on to Crowder through the end of his contract. Yes, there's a cap savings, but if they keep him and let him walk in his contract year, they could land the compensatory pick, which seems to be a part of Douglas' strategy.
