The Seahawks didn’t give safety Jamal Adams a contract extension when they acquired him in a trade with the Jets last year, but that didn’t stop Adams from saying that his plan was to retire as a member of the team.

A new contract will be necessary for that to happen and no agreement has been reached on one so far this offseason. That will have an impact on this week’s mandatory minicamp.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Adams will not participate in the minicamp as he looks for that new deal.

The Seahawks traded two first-round picks, a third-round pick and safety Bradley McDougald for Adams and a fourth-round pick. Adams had been at odds with the Jets over the lack of a contract extension, so the Seahawks knew that they would have to deal with the matter at some point in the near future

The future is now and the amount they gave up for Adams would seem to give the safety leverage at the negotiating table as the Seahawks would look foolish for mortgaging their future for a short-term relationship with a

he wants out already. wants to go to tompa for some rings rather than stay in Seattle who is ruined by their trade for him. can't blame him for wanting out, he wants to play for a winner while getting paid the big bucks. he'll have to play for cheap to get the rings though

I still can't believe Seattle made that trade. possibly the worst trade ever and I don't hate Adams

Their problem now. Glad he's gone.

Since I really, really, really don't like that team, I'm enjoying the heck out of this.
Textbook definition of schadenfreude.

About Adams:
"“I didn’t complain all season because it was bigger than me,” Adams wrote. “I hyperextended my elbow Week One. Week Two, I dislocated both my ring and middle finger multiple times. I then strained my groin Week Three, which knocked me out for four games. Came back and dislocated my shoulder. Ended up tearing my labrum. Last week I had two surgeries at the same time."

Using him so close to the line all the time is taking a toll. But what can they do? He's still mediocre in pass coverage.

Sounds like someone who you wouldn't want to invest a big long term contract in, just saying. JoeD was obviously smart enough to realize the same, although pre-last season injuries.

But I’m gonna shout it from the rooftops now.
Funny, he’s trying for a new contract by saying how injury prone he is.
how about zipping it and let your agent do his job.
Let’s see if the, soon to be, scorched earth negotiation tactic works in Seattle.

Other than for the obvious amusement about the agita it is giving to his coach, I don't a flying rat's rectum about him.
But it IS funny.

I was so against the trade when it was being talked about. Once I saw our compensation, and now the never Ending diva BS this guy puts out, I am ecstatic that he is gone. Another win for JD.
