If there is one player that the Jets need to sign it is wide receiver Allen Robinson. There are plenty of talented pass catchers on the market but Robinson is unquestionably the best receiver out there.

Robinson has had a pair of stellar seasons for Chicago, catching a combined 200 passes for 2,397 yards with 13 touchdowns over 31 games. That production is even more impressive when you consider that Robinson had to deal with incredibly inconsistent quarterbacking from Mitchell Trubisky, Nick Foles and Chase Daniel.

The Jets have to get their quarterback the best help possible in order to succeed. With over $70 million in salary cap room the Jets can afford to splurge to land a guy like Robinson, who can fit well into any offensive scheme and become a safety blanket for Sam Darnold or a rookie like Zach Wilson.

There will be stiff competition for Robinson’s services if the Bears don’t use the franchise tag to keep him. Douglas will be watching this situation closely to see if the opportunity emerges for the Jets to add a marquee playmaker like Robinson to the Jets’ offense.

Would like to see us come away with Robinson, an OG (Thuney) and DE/edge in FA. Costly, but a huge jumpstart to the rebuild and allows us to pick up some valuable pieces in the draft without reaching too much for need.

curious - is it the ex-Patriot OL curse or something else?
Don't know what his reply will be, but i happen to think he's washed up and your typical old soldier coming home to die . Let someone else pay for his funeral .

He's 28 yrs old, earned 14.78 M playing under the tag last season, has a player rating of 74.2, committed 3 penalties in 980 snaps, and allowed 2 sacks, played 16 games, and is ranked 21st among all guards, for whatever this is worth. He was the highest paid player on the team this last season.

Alex Lewis had 4 penalties 0 Sacks allowed
Pat Elflein replaced him had 1 penalty 2 Sacks allowed

if both are on the roster next year the line will be fine
between the two over 1000 snaps at LG

Then draft a kid like Slater to step in. I'm ok with saving $14m and using it on an edge guy for Saleh's defense.

Lewis is a JD guy from Baltimore, and to this point he looked good next to Becton

after his tiff with Adam Googly Eyes, JD saved him and placed him on NFI List

claiming Elflein was lucky and the limited time he played he looked good getting up to speed quickly and finished the season strong

Elflein is a RG and we are in need over Van Roten

I hope that Clark is able to step up and into a role on the OL. I liked him coming out, just hope the red-shirt year and different set of coaching eyes will give him an opportunity. Do you think Slater, if picked would be plugged into RT spot?

I think Clark got Gased and JD will make sure he gets a fair shot to earn that job at LG
If Slater is drafted he would fit right in at RT

I prefer to draft a RT and Center this draft and find veteran options at G to make the transition easier for the line to mesh
can always draft another day 3 option for guard like Clark and allow them to split time this year to hope they develop to take over at guard...

You're right there. I wasn't suggesting that we go after him or that we don't. I was just posting his stats for anyone who was curious and didn't want to look it up. However: he would almost certainly expect a salary near what he made last season and that's too much IMO.
