The Jets added another wide receiver with some return experience.

The team announced they had signed former Chiefs wide-out Frankie Hammond to a future contract.

Hammond spent two years on the Chiefs’ active roster and last year on the practice squad.

He averaged 10.9 yards per punt return, and gives them another option behind a fleet of rookies who showed some promise last year.

If this guy can manage anything more than a fair catch, it's already an upgrade. Of course it also helps that he doesn't have four guys surrounding him the second he catches the ball. I'd be shocked if any team was worse than the Jets at returning punts last year.

Jets finished dead last in punt return yardage (149) and tied for last in average per return (5.5). They are one of two teams that had more FC's than returns, but were only second worst at that. As you may figure, SF had a way worse FC record with 36 fair catches, all by the dahar master of the FC, Jeremy Kerley

Nice to have a good punt returner if you have a defense that can get stops. Wasn't consistently the case with this bend- then-break defense.
Since there are so many other needs on this team, signing a returner is like having a third nostril - interesting.
Now let's address the other areas that need fixing.
