The New York Jets have a puncher's chance of walking away with another W. For the fans of the majority of NFL teams, that would be reason to chatter away happily about the game. For the Jets fans, though, it means another possible step backward in the draft pick rankings. That sort of mental conflict can lead to clinical neurosis. Small wonder that Jets fans are, well, how can I put it, different.

As one who has watched the Jets evolve from the Titans, win Super Bowl III, and henceforth sink into obscurity, I've learned to distance myself from emotional involvement. For those who've not learned how, Sunday's game will be excruciating.

Interesting article on nfl.com about what the eliminated teams need to do to improve. Bad news is that three teams drafting above the Jets need O line help, so the guys we need might not be there. Jacksonville, against whom we were told Rodgers looked 'elite', are described as having one of the worst secondaries in the league and a weak pass rush. So this week's game against the Rams and next week against the Bills will provide a litmus test. Will we see 'the old Rodgers' or just 'old Rodgers'?

Hi, beresford! Very nice choice of words in your final sentence. By about 4 PM EST today we should have an answer.

The NY Jets, as best I can determine, need something that's not available in the draft regardless of pick status. They need to replace the present team culture. We saw how that could obtain in MLB. Perhaps there's hope yet.

In Canton, there's a display of the Fan of the Year for each team. When were there it was, naturally, Fireman Ed.

Today, it's going to be in the low 20's with a steady wind. It will feel like the low teens. Pregame tailgate even colder.

The team has already lost as many as it had in the last disaster of a season. They are not really in the running for the top draft pick. Watching them play this year has been mostly as dull as a Mark Farner guitar solo, as skilled as a Dick Stuart fieldng play and as annoying as my sister in law. Well, maybe not that annoying, but close.

The HOF should take down the names of every single Jets fan that shows up today and sits out there through the weather, the team and stays until the very end. Those are my fans of the year. Honorable mention to all of you jamooks because it's holiday season and we should be nice.

Now what alcohol goes good in egg nog?

Yes they have a better Coach.
However, they are playing the NY Jets who always shoot themselves in their Franchise's Collective Foot.
What better way to sabotage the future of the Franchise by once again effing up any chance at a decent draft pick?
