OG Alex Lewis had 2 years remaining and a cap hit of $5.8 M for this year, but now his contract is 1 year $3 M and is in competition with GVR, Feeney, Clark and Hoge for starting and backup roles at RG!
That was a good move both for the money saving and the fact that Lewis will need to up his game, which wasn't bad anyway, if he wants a new contract next season. It's all about the competition deciding who gets to stay.
