Kalil Pimpleton Scouting Report Pimpleton is a balanced, savvy route runner with top field awareness, setting up and selling routes smoothly. He gains separation down over the middle on crossing routes with pure speed and quickness. He is a dangerous return specialist and is explosive in the open field making defenders miss when they try to hand trip tackle him. Kalil has smooth acceleration and gets to top speed quickly and with ease.
Areas for Improvement Kalil lacks much bulk on his body and will be outmuscled at the next level against physical defenders. Because of his slight frame NFL defenders may be able to knock him off his route. He will have limitations against, he lacks the upper body strength to fight off the press with his hands. His hands are good not great. He will drop some easy balls and sometimes will body catch. He occasionally fails to high point.
Kalil Pimpleton Career at School In High School, 2015 and 2016 Muskegon Chronicle Offensive Player of the Year and helped lead Muskegon to a 12-2 record and state championship game appearance in 2016. He played under coach Shane Fairfield. At Virginia Tech, he played in five games and ran once for four yards. Sat out 2018 due to NCAA transfer requirements. In 2019 he earned first team All-MAC honors as a wide receiver and punt returner. He started 14 games and named a team captain. He recorded 82 catches for 894 yards and six touchdowns. He led the MAC in both total receptions and receiving yards and ranked sixth in program history for catches in a single season. In 2020, he was named second team All-MAC at wide receiver. He named to Phil Steel All-MAC team as both a wide receiver and as a punt returner. A versatile talent led CMU with 26 receptions for 277 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed 16 times for 134 yards and three touchdowns. In 2021, totaled 62 receptions for 960 yards and four touchdowns.
