Areas for ImprovementWhiteside isn't able to consistently shed blocks and makes plays in the hole. His marginal arm length limits his ability to grab hold of ballcarriers as they run by. He must improve hand use and read-and-react skills. Lacks the violent hands to shed and can be eliminated by double-team blocks. He lacks closing speed and inconsistent quickness off the snap prevents him from being an elite pass rusher. He might be limited to one-gap systems. His agility isn't a question but misses tackles when he doesn't square and break down.

Kobie Whiteside NFL Draft Player ProfileThe NFL places a premium on pass rushers, most of whom work on the edge. But when you can get significant production from the interior, that is just as coveted. Whiteside is big at just under 300 pounds (298) with significant athleticism for his frame. A 2019 season in which he totaled 7.5 sacks put him on the radar of many teams. While his production was not as remarkable the past two years, his traits are evident on tape. With a chance to show his abilities against noteworthy talent this week, Whiteside is a player to watch.
