You guys are all probably right , I just wish we could find that guy who can actually play O/L , and is a monster coming off the edge . I don't see Mauldin being the answer, and I wouldn't give up a sixth for a Tim Williams.
Beachum is a solid signing, you will see. We need an edge rusher for sure, but no reason to make a rash decision. If we're rebuilding, why would we ship out our best player just to risk a draft rusher might live up to his projection?

Williams actually shows up to meetings, doesn't play at 50% because of turf toe his whole career, and keeps out of trouble.
I suspect Sheldon will be traded in season when no alternatives are available and a contender needs him. Much like Dallas last year. We will have the most leverage in that scenario.

That leaves Williams and mo, we have some time to coach up our current roster and acquire another edge rusher. You are forgetting our pass rush was good this year, they got to the qb. The problem was that other teams could just use a quick release because our corners couldn't cover their own shadows.

[h=2]Trade Leonard Williams for picks? NO! He is better than Wilkerson & I rather have Wilkerson traded or cut after watching him flat out quit in games.[/h]

That's not true. It's a myth that Wilkerson mailed it in after getting paid last year. He got hurt early in the season and battled through a leg injury for most of the year. His play improved the last 1/4 of the season because he started to heal. Watch the tape.

If anything Wilkerson was the opposite of "quit". He played through injury despite being limited. Can't say that for a lot of players in the NFL.

he didn't do himself any favors with the fan base when he threw the secondary under the bus last season.. especially after showing up late for meetings if at all..

This is like trading JJ Watt after his 2nd year to acquire Jadeveon Clowney (if the Texans didnt have the 1st overal pick). Thats the risk anyone would be taking.

Williams in his second year is a pro bowler. He hasnt even reached his potential yet. Not going to mortgage our youth movement by giving away PICKS and a PROVEN start for a player that "potentially" may transition to the NFL.

Also, Williams has shown he has been durable. Thats one asset alongside with his age/ playmaking abilities that would make him untradeable..

He didn't come to meetings and walkthroughs. That's inexcusable and unprofessional behavior. According to what has been written, last year wasn't the first time he was doing that kind of stuff and that was the main reason Mac and Johnson hesitated in signing him to a long term deal. For the money he was given, Mac could have signed Damon Harrison AND Kelechi Osemele. I really wish they had done that.

Well, the Jets didn't mind Wilkerson being late to a few team meetings as much as you did, as evidenced by a 5 year 86 million dollar extension.

It doesn't really matter at this point anyway. He's here to stay. He and Leo are the future of this d-line.

Wilkerson was always a question mark as a rookie. The first 2 years I didnt see much from him in effort & then knowing his rookie contract was up in 2 years I noticed him playing hard & working out harder . That was my big worry if Wilk was going to continue to work out & play hard after getting his money & by watching him last season make the initial hit & stand, I would say NO! In Wilks first year under his big signing you see him D Line hit & stop not driving the O linemen back or trying to get past because Wilk made sure to hit head on & stop, its tells me QUIT! Go back & watch the games & tell me Wilk didnt quit! I also dont by that injury excuse AFTER he played halfazzed. I think if Jets keeps Wilk, you will have just that, a halfazzed effort of 50% while paying TOP DOLLAR for him & setting a bad example to Rookies like Williams. Trade Wilk or Cut him ,I dont care. Wilk got his money & now feels he doesnt have to play at that high level every down. When a Player sign a big contract & see him play like that in his first year under it, you know Jets got taken to cleaners.
