Marvin Terry Scouting Report Marvin is an aggressive run defender. He fills run lanes hard and does not shy from contact. He plays with a violence to fight off blocks, flashing a physical nature. Terry is an intense, powerful hitter who willingly gives up his body. He is an intelligent player who can play multiple linebacker roles and versatility to play multiple schemes. Marvin might be a bit stiff, but makes the clean open field tackle. He plays with good effort in pursuit. He has good key and diagnose skills. Marvin quickly locates the ball and shows no wasted motion in getting there. At least adequate lateral agility to avoid blockers and shows good vision and anticipation.
Areas for Improvement Terry lacks ideal competition at the college level. He does not have enough speed, power or bulk to fit any linebacker position perfectly in the NFL. He relies on effort and intensity rather than elite agility, power or closing speed. He can be too hesitant when he does not find the ball immediately. Terry is not a sudden or quick twitch athlete. He will never be the strongest player on the field and he can struggle to shed from different angles. He lacks functional strength to shed and take on blocks at the point of attack.
Marvin Terry Career at School Marvin Terry was a three time all district selection for coach Jason Todd. He registered 354 career tackles, 205 solo stops including 56.5 sacks and 80 tackles for loss over his high school career. As a freshman, Terry played at Trinity Valley Community College where he played on the defensive line for two seasons for coach Sherard Poteete in Athens, Texas. He had 74 tackles, 41 solos, 17 sacks, 11.5 tackles for loss during his two seasons at TVCC. In 2018 he redshirted, following year he started all 10 games on the defensive front registering 48 tackles, 38 solo with 13.5 tackles for loss and six sacks.
