In case you haven't noticed, a large chuck of the media are actively engaged in sabotage, warning GM candidates NOT to take the Jets job.

This is unconscionable, the media is supposed to remain neutral in such matters and just report the facts, not actively engage in sabotage.

I don’t think it’s that pervasive. They’re just jumping on the Jets bashing bandwagon. It’s entertainment for so many to rehash the same, tired SOJ theme to poke fun at fans who scream their disapproval at the draft and wear paper bags on their heads during the Kotite years.

Nobody can pick on the Browns anymore. So back to the Jets.

The fans play a part in facilitating this, too.

I don't think it matters all that much. These guys are pros, they will leave it up to ownership to convince them that Gase didnt fire Macc, and that the GM will have say on personnel over Gase.

If they can, they'll one of the more experienced higher profile guys. If they wind up with an inexperienced longshot, we'll know that Gase isnin charge of everything, which doesn't bode well for our personnel decisions or our QBs development.

I'm hoping they can, and we can have a true GM and Gase can focus 100% on the team and Sam's development (and not necessarily in that order).

if a potential candidate is turned off because of media warnings, then that is not someone i want running the jets. this is new york. you need to be able to go out and do your job without worrying how the media (and fans) will react. you need to have a plan and execute on the plan to make the jets winners. winning is done on the field, not on the back pages.

I see this situation as problematic on two levels. First, Christopher Johnson is showing that he’s not very smart on football matters. This was terrible timing to fire your GM after letting him run your draft and spend all the money in FA. Secondly, the media is demonstrating how unattractive a GM spot is in NY. They’re crucifying the Jets round the clock for this firing. Incompetent, dumpster fire, Clueless, etc. These are the words being used to describe this team by the media.

Would you want to walk into this environment?
