Micheal Clemons Scouting Report

Clemons sports long arms and a hefty punch, giving him both the tools to engage first and capitalize on it. Clemons also shows a thoughtful pass-rushing approach, mixing in two-hand swipes, spin moves, bull rushes and inside counters on top of his bread-and-butter rip-and-dip around the edge.

Most impressive of all, Clemons has functional flexibility around the edge to get wide for a guy his size. If anything, his long legs can make it tough for him to stay low and maintain leverage, but that alone shouldn't crush him.

Areas for Improvement

Clemons' profile as a run defender is much more suspect. He has the size, length and moments of hand usage to be effective against the run, but he too often fails to play his assignment correctly. Clemons can be late seeing stuff develop in front of him, in addition to his tendency to set the edge too wide/deep and let plays hit inside of him. His long legs can also make it awkward for him to resettle and find his anchor at times, too.

Clemons will need to refine his run-defense skills, which may be a tall order for an older prospect with plenty of experience already, but he has the tools to get there. His pass-rushing prowess will give him the leeway to learn run defense while still earning playing time.

Micheal Clemons Career at School

As a sophomore, at Texas A&M he registered 19 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and a sack after appearing in all 13 games.

In 2018, Clemons redshirted. Following season he played in all 11 games making nine starts. He was fourth on the team with four QB hurries on the year. During the pandemic season he started all five games in at defensive end before suffering an injury. Set a career highs in tackles for loss (4.5) and sacks (4) on the season. In 2021, Clemons a graduate played in all 10 games making nine starts. He led the Aggies with 13 hurries.

Micheal Clemons NFL Draft Player Profile

Micheal Clemons profiles as a 3-4 defensive end with a very high ceiling. He’s a great example of a height-weight-speed prospect who will be viewed as an exceptional coaching project on the next level. He lands in the right system with a schooled position coach, Clemons’ upside is massive. He’ll be a player who consistently rises throughout draft season and could be one of the better defensive players to come out of this draft two or three years from now.
