I think this raises the possibility of the #10 being used to bring in Davante. It would take something to fit him under the cap, but there is maneuverability.

You have to admit JD is filling the holes and doing it without selling out the future.
Now use the draft to build some depth at the need positions and I will be happy.

If everyone stays healthy, the potential is limitless. If guys get injured, the money hit is lessened.

The three keys to veterans on short-term contracts are:

1. If they walk, it counts toward compensatory picks down the road.
2. It allows you to replace long-term if you draft the right guys.
3. It doesn't hurt your future cap flexibility when it will come time to extend guys like Sauce, GW, JJ, etc.

Call me crazy but I’m not really feeling this signing! Not because of his talent, his age and injury issues concerns me. This just seems like a signing that will not work out for the Jets. It just seems to be their fate nowadays. Him and C. Davis coming out of retirement concerns me quite a bit. I hope I’m wrong but I’m probably not! So let me take a page out of TCT’s book and say that he’ll play for two games (at most) and get injured for the rest of the year.
