this list of players are affordable and all have potential.

using this list as a starting point to build the roster should be Douglas's game plan after this season.

Players like Trumaine Johnson has to be a gimme to cut him.
Players like Henry Anderson, Avery Williamson and C.J. Mosley can save money but the timing is key, all three have bonuses a few days into the league year to either cut or trade them. Mosley if cut/traded by the third day of league the Jets save a whopping $16 M for 2020 ($1.5 M dead loss; but roster bonus of $10 M savings not to mention $6 M base salary) also savings on the rest of the contract.
Players like Darryl Roberts cut/traded save full salary of $6 M.
Players like Bellamy & J Harrison are replaceable players that save $2.25 M each.
Player like Brian Winters no guarantees in his contract with a cap savings of $7 M no brainer.

Le'Veon Bell's contract can only be moved via trade for the team to save money next year, but year after can be cut to save big dollars.

Jamison Crowder like Bell can be traded to save the team $8 M with $2 M dead loss if the team feels they can get value in draft compensation for him.

Quincy Enunwa, depending on if he retires due to this his second neck injury. But if the team decides to cut/trade him they can save $7.8 M of his base salary by March 20. $1.8 M dead loss but his durability makes this a likely cut.

Have to wonder what this team will look like.

I would be happy if we were able to find some value through a couple of trades...

Joe Douglas is signing some talent to the open practice squad spots but it is hardly enough. Maybe one or two may compete for a roster spot but the Jets will have to get seriously creative. Tired of overpaying for sub par effort and talent...

  • Le'Veon Bell, Josh Adams, Jalin Moore and Trenton Cannon all under contract... Adams, Moore and Cannon affordable options...
  • Chris Herndon, Trevon Wesco, Thomas Hennessey all under contract and again affordable... Probably going to re-sign or try to Ryan Griffin...
  • Braxton Berrios, Vyncint Smith are both under contract wouldn't be surprised to see Enunwa let go and not sure if they will re-sign D Thomas.
  • Could see them shop Crowder, but I am up in the air about the Robby Anderson situation. Would like him back on a competitive salary but his value could be overpriced by other teams trying to snatch him away and think he will jump on that chance to be paid...
  • Sam Darnold unfortunately for him he is under contract, doubt the team will shop him...
  • Right now the only thing we have is Chuma Edoga especially after they cut Brian Winters... I doubt they are going to re-sign any of these guys... And I doubt any of these guys want to return...
  • we re-signed Mclendon one year extension, Foley under contract but the rest of the d line could either be shopped or sent packing.
  • linebackers Jordan Jenkins should be re-signed he has shown progression every year. Copeland, Luvu, Basham have potential but when are we going to see it? Avery Williamson & C.J. Mosley could of been a dominate tandem but injuries may not be worth testing to keep them moving forward for the price they are signed for...
  • safeties, well one could ask for his trade/release, the other could simply be cut/traded. we have Farley under contract, but Miles who was just placed on IR might of seen the last of his Jets days.
  • next up oh boy corners, Bless Austin and Nate Hairston under competitive salaries should stick around but when it comes to Trumaine Johnson and Darryl Roberts time to save money and cut bait. I believe Blake Countess is under contract for next season and the smart play would be to re-sign Brian Poole. but like the other positions we need talent here... Acquiring Canaday he should be under contract for next season pending his performance for the rest of this season...
  • kicker oh no, Ficken ups and downs has been a bright spot on a dark team the only real bright spot is Lac Edwards since he was drafted...
