well def leaving no stone unturned @woodyjohnson4 but when is it to much? If quinn is the guy and you already have a fallback option or 2 stay the course.

Why not interview? If Quinn is their choice, nothing can be done till the Seahawks season is over. I'm sure Maccagnan is now involved in the process.

Quinn probably expected that Rex would get the Atlanta job.
With Rex having landed in Buffalo, I'm sure Arthur Blank has offered Quinn the Falcons job, and Quinn probably views that as a more attractive opportunity. He probably called Woody this morning to say "thanks, but no thanks".

So, now we are on to interviewing assistants to assistants.

Another unqualified head coach with no head coaching experience. More on-the-job training. More failure.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

To me, this means Quinn has informed the Jets that he is taking another job.

b. The Jets, I hear, were scrambling to interview Bowles last night or today. They love Quinn too. They may not be able to get Quinn. If I were Quinn, with no sure quarterback there and no great familiarity with prospective GM Mike Maccagnan, the Texans’ director of college scouting, I’d much rather have the Atlanta job, even though I have family roots in New Jersey.

@AdamSchefter: Jets and Falcons each planning to bring back Cardinals DC Todd Bowles for second HC interview, per sources; trying to finalize schedule now.

Not always, but second interviews usually mean an offer. Seems like the wind has gone out of the Qinn for HC sails

Confirming the Jets have, in fact, scheduled a second interview with Todd Bowles. #nyj

Interesting.
Maybe Quinn is taking the Bears job.

Think that could be a mistake on his part with the Falcons out there. Could also be that the Falcons are upset about losing Rex due to inaction, (Blank's mother died right after the Rex interview) and are going to jump on their next best choice.

I did not realize that Mr. Blank's mother had just passed.

That probably explains the inaction on the part of the Falcons.

There were two twists Monday in the New York Jets' head-coaching search, which is beginning its third week.

Although Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn remains the favorite, the Jets have scheduled an interview for Wednesday with Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, as ESPN's Dan Graziano reported. He will be the seventh known candidate to interview for the vacancy.

Meanwhile, the Jets are trying to set up a second interview with Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. This isn't surprising, as Bowles and Quinn are considered the top candidates.

Instead of remaining idle as they wait for Quinn, who can't be offered the job until the Seahawks' season is over, the Jets are continuing the process -- and they should. It's good business. It also helps their leverage.

There is competition for Quinn and Bowles, two of the hottest commodities on the market. In fact, the Atlanta Falcons, too, want to have Bowles for a second interview. Quinn still is drawing interest from the San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears and Falcons.

If the Jets decide to back off Quinn, it will be because of two factors: They fear losing him to another team and can't take the chance of waiting, or they're concerned about his ability to put together a staff in early February, assuming the Seahawks reach the Super Bowl.

McDermott, who interviewed for the Washington Redskins' job last year, has done a very good job with the Panthers' defense. In fact, they've been a top-10 defense in each of his three seasons in Carolina. Previously, he spent his entire NFL coaching career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was fired as their coordinator after the 2010 season.

Yeah, Blank was actually called away from the interview an hour before it ended due to his mother's failing health.

The Bills offered him like a 30% raise immediately. Rex wisely took it
