Joe Flacco, Jets Host Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins in Week 5 at MetLife Stadium
The New York Jets are coming off of their fourth straight loss this past week against an injured and below-average Denver Broncos team. The Jets have been consistently ranked the worst team in the NFL alongside their neighbor the New York Giants. Their offense is a complete mess and their defense looks completely unmotivated, even while being a decent NFL defense. The Jets almost lost Darnold last game, and if he does need to miss some time I would be scared to know what this team would look like without him.
Sam Darnold, while a below-average quarterback, is holding this team together against their opponents. He is receiving no help from his offensive line, receiving core, and is missing not having Leveon Bell in the backfield with him. The offense in total ranks second to last in the league in points per game and the Jets as a team are losing by an average of 16.5 points per game. With some miracle, it should be known that the Cardinals defense has been giving up a healthy amount of points to their below .500 opponents which could help the Jets offense.
Last week, the Jets embarrassingly lost to a Denver Broncos team that turned to their third-string rookie quarterback. The Jets defense created three interceptions and one touchdown off of one of those interceptions, and still lost by two scores. If that doesn’t tell you something about the Jets defense in total, then I don’t know what will. The offense only produced one touchdown and was left hanging in Denver’s territory by forcing Sam Ficken to kick five field goals.
The Jets need some serious help to get themselves back on track. They will still be without Le'Veon and Breshad Perriman next week, but the rest of their team should be ready to go. If their defense can hold back Deandre Hopkins and put pressure on Kyler Murray, they could make the game interesting. However, with how morale looks for the New York Jets, I am not sure they have much hope left for the season.
