Quite possibly, Christopher Johnson is the greatest owner in Jets history

Before people start jumping the gun on me, let me explain;

When was the last time a Jets owner took full responsibility in building this franchise in a football manner? IMHO, Leon Hess when he acquired Bill Parcells. Thats about it. Since then, ownership have fluctuated with hiring search firms....allowing other ex-GM's to choose a GM/HC combo for them. Hiring 1st time HC's that went on to select mediocre QBs with an unstable front office.

In the span of two years, Christopher Johnson, unlike his brother has been aggressive in the pursuit of attaining a Superbowl caliber organization.

1st off- He allowed Mike Macagnan to do his job last off season heading into the draft To take a risk and move up in the draft and ultimately select our long awaited franchise QB. Let that sink in as many fans just let that pass by and forget all the years of the Pat Ryans, Ken O'Brien, Browning Nagle, Troy Taylor, Neil O'Donnell, Glenn Foley, Bubby Brister, Frank Reich, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Greg McElroy, Josh McCown years.

That 50 year box has been checked off in Sam Darnold.

2nd-Chris worked alongside with Mac for a full year and a half and realized that he wasn't as aggressive as he thought, whiffing on Khalil Mack and many others in order to solidify this squad. He therefore Jettisoned an extremely incompetent HC in Todd Bowles and signed an alpha male whom overachieved in Miami with horrible QBs with Brock Osweiller, Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore at the helm. Adam Gase persona works hand in hand with Chris. A change had to be made and Chris knew the link between Adam and Joe Douglas-He pulled the trigger and relieved Mike Macagnan from his duties post draft. (which in my opinion was excellent timing- Allow me to elaborate: A GM and his head of director of scouting need a full year to evaluate young talent. To fire him at the end of the 2018 season would have been a complete waste of information on these prospects. Also, Joe Douglas would have not taken the job if offered as he also had the same duties with Philadelphia. He would leave with unfinished business. Firm believer of never burn your bridges). Chris took all the blame when letting Mac go. He took it like a champ.

3rd-The most import off-season this franchise ever had and Christopher Johnson knocked it out of the stratosphere. He has surrounded Sam Darnold with playmakers (Jammison Crowder-LeVeon Bell, Ty Montgomery)-solidifed the O-Line (Keleche Osemelle) (the center is coming, let Joe Work), Added a beast on the defensive side of the ball with CJ Mosley. Then, he upgraded the front office with one of the highest rated GM prospects in Joe Douglass.

This 2019 campaign should not be looked upon as a rebuild- This team is set to win NOW and years to come. With Christopher Johnson at the front of this organization until Woody gets back, This franchise will soon reach and win their 2nd Super Bowl very soon.

What ? ? Have you completly lost your marbles ? You've obviously gone brain dead or your overdosing on something that has you functioning without a brain. Just kidding ! ! You've put forth some pretty strong arguments in Chris's behalf here and while I'm not 100% sure he is the best ever I do believe he runs this organization better than Woody and hopefully when Woody finishes his political career he will let Chris continue to run it and be content to be just the owner. He does seem to have the teams best interest in mind and the points you make here are reasonably sound. Good post.

Good post Dan. I don't know if he's the best owner in franchise history, but he certainly is doing all the right things. He has a vision for the type of team and franchise he wants. Yes, he's made some mistakes, but he's been on the job for two years, there is a learning curve. I am fan of Christopher Johnson and would prefer that Woody leave managing the team operations to him going forward.

This team still has holes - CB, the OL, EDGE immediately come to mind. But there is far more talent on this team than people think. If the Jets can come together, Darnold learns the offense and gets comfortable with it, say by week 5, and the OL and CBs can hold up enough to keep the Jets in games, this team has a chance to surprise a lot of people. I'm not going to make any predictions at this point, but I'm excited about where the team is. They are not far away.

There is talk that even if Woody came back, Chris would retain a large portion of control of the team. So we can once more put politics back in our pockets.
