Ditto, agreed and I second this motion.
Macc has his faults. His drafting in mid-rounds has been subpar. Not by a ton, as I think fans overestimate how other teams draft in the middle rounds. But he needs to improve in that aspect. He also needs to give greater priority to the offensive line.
That said, he has been an outstanding trader. Just look at his trade history. Outstanding. His top-end picks have largely been quite good. And his management of the cap has been tremendous.
Fair analysis of Maccagnan. You’d be hard pressed to find many genius GM’s out there nowadays. Sometimes what you see on film doesn’t always translate to the NFL. Some GM’s get lucky with their 5th round picks, and find stud LB’s who outperform their draft status. Then people say “wow he’s a great GM finding that guy”. Not really. He got lucky.
The majority of GM’s have hits and misses. And the majority of middle to late round picks don’t survive the final cuts after a few years. The statistics prove it.
But everyone thinks there’s some Ron Wolf just waiting around the corner to be hired.
What I do know is his roster produced 2 back to back 5-11 seasons and then got worse with a 4-12. Thats all I need to know.
This is a win/win draft as far as I'm concerned. If Mac nails it the Jets got better. If he doesn't he will be fired. I also believe Mac doesn't have the balls to put his "career" on the line and trust his ability is assess talent by trading out. We are staying at #3.
Some speculation in DC that Skins may be talking up this possibility as part of their negotiuations with Cardinals for Rosen - we are more interested in Haskins than we are in Rosen.....now if you let us have Rosen for say our 2nd round pick maybe we would take him off your hands.....
It seems not only Redskins inquiring about 3rd overall pick. The Raiders, Giants, Bengals, Packers, and Falcons are speaking to the Jets about there pick.. Would not mind trading to the team that has the most draft capital. We will see what happens. I hope Macc can pull off a block buster trade to help this franchise.
Wait. I heard an awful lot of Bowles hate here. Was it Bowles' fault, or was it Maccagnan's? Because if you blame Maccagnan for it, then you have to say Bowles got a raw deal when he was fired.
That would be better than could be imagined, a bidding war. It would land the Jets a pretty good haul.
Mac picked the roster. Bowles couldn't make it any better. Both should have been fired. It doesn't matter. Some of us are not happy with Mac and some of y'all are.

My problem is the lack of ability to see shades of gray. Why does a guy have to either be great or awful?
He has been good in some ways, not so good in others. What's wrong with saying that? What is wrong with having a more nuanced view, rather than just black or white?
I think he makes decent trades. Signed a few good FA's. And has failed at drafting past the 6th pick. Unfortunately you build your team through the draft.
All GMs have largely failed in later rounds. The Jets may be slightly below average in those picks hitting, but it's only slightly.
