Reggie Sutton Scouting ReportReggie Sutton has versatility and agility that make him an important piece to the Rutgers Scarlet Knight's offensive line. He has starting ability has played both guard positions. He has had more success on the right side able to look comfortable and relaxed in his movements. He has exceptional fluidity in his footwork. Reggie can easily pull and move laterally in a variety of zone and man blocking schemes. In pass protection, he looks sharp and explosive in his pass sets with composed hands. He plays with a mean intent and looks to finish off balance defenders in the turf. His work ethic translates through his tape, and he looks to always be giving high levels of effort. Sutton's best asset is his strength and disposition as a run blocker. He gives a strong initial punch. He plays with good leverage bends at the knees and sees what he is hitting. He shows the ability to roll his hips into the defender and drive him off the line of scrimmage.

Areas for ImprovementReggie is very raw techinique. He plays with inconsistent hand placement fails to sustain blocks. He attacks when necessary, though he won't consistently dominate and can lose balance overextending. He is not explosive athlete and has limited range. He will pop upright off the snap and needs to stay balanced, avoid the habit of lunging. Sutton lacks lateral agility, flexibility and footwork to start on the outside in the NFL. He bends at the waist and loses leverage, also has a tendency to lunge and lean too far when flustered.

Reggie Sutton Career at RutgersReggie Sutton played for head coach Donald Davis at Calvert Hall. He led the team to an 8-5 record his senior year. He was named First Team All Metro on offense by the Baltimore Sun. He was selected to compete in the Maryland Crab Bowl All Star game. He was also named First Team All USA Maryland Football Team on offense by USA Today in 2017. As a true freshman, he played in the last four games with one start as a blocking tight end. In 2019, he appeared in six games on the offensive line. He was named to the Academic All Big Ten list (12/11). He was part of the unit to lead the team to 271 rushing yard against Liberty (10/26). In his junior campaign, he started all nine games on the offensive line. He was named honorable mention All Big Ten in the coaches' vote (12/15). He was named to the Academic All Big Ten list (12/10). He helped Rutgers post a program high 26.7 points per game in a Big Ten Season. He returned for another campaign, starting the first three games at right guard. He was named to the Academic All Big Ten list (12/14) for the third time. He was part of the unit that allowed no sacks and rushed for six touchdowns in the win over Temple. |
Reggie Sutton NFL Draft Player ProfileSutton has a proactive mentality that blockers need to succeed in the trenches. He is also reasonably long and balanced with a combination equates to a high ceiling. Sutton is mobile enough but he is not elite athlete. He has a lean frame may not be as formidable against larger, more powerful NFL defenders. He should look to add more mass to his fram but even then, he might sap some athleticism he does have. Reggie has positional versatility, pent up aggression and strong hand usage he could have a skill set built up to negate physical limitations to an extent. His cupboard is not bare from a physical standpoint. He is worth an early day 3 prospect who can develop into a serviceable role player early on his career.
