With the 1st pick in the 1960 AFL draft, the NY Titans selected LB Larry Grantham. The Baltimore Colts also selected Larry in the 15th round (178th overall) of the NFL draft during the same year. The move would later haunt the Colts as they failed to land the coveted LB.

Larry was born September 16, 1938 in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. He attended University of Mississippi and entered the “Ole Miss” athletic hall of fame.

Grantham would become the backbone of the Jets Defense and was one of only 20 players to play in the AFL for its entire 10-year existence. Larry was named to the AFL All-star team 5 times and played in 8 all-star games.

Larry was named the Jets MVP of the 1971 season. In 12 years with the Jets, Larry had 24 Int. Sacks were not accounted for yet. On October 10, 2011, Larry was inducted into the NY Jets Ring of Honor.
