Good news for those of you who have dreamed of seeing Rex Ryan and Rob Ryan on the same sideline: A day after the Saints fired Rob as defensive coordinator, Rex, the Bills' head coach, said he wouldn't dismiss the possibility of one day working with his twin brother.

Rex Ryan said Rob will "take some time" away from the game after getting fired, adding that "we purposely set a path going to different teams" before conceding that he'd love to work with his brother.

The Ryans learned football from their dad, Buddy Ryan, though you could argue that Rex has been a much better defensive coach than his brother. We wrote about this in September 2014, when the Saints were thoroughly outclassed by the Browns. In looking at Rex's career as a defensive coordinator, we came to one conclusion:

"The takeaway: Other than [the 2013] season, when Ryan turned around a terrible Saints defense under Steve Spagnuolo, there's nothing that suggests he's anything more than an average coordinator."

Thirteen months later and nothing had changed.

For now, Dennis Allen has replaced Rob Ryan in New Orleans. We'll have to wait to see if Rob and Rex will be reunited at some point in the future.
