Roster Cuts, Cap Causalities and Free Agent Signings

We have all suspected on who should become a cap casuality this off season which has arrived... Teams around the league have began trimming the fat so to speak... Regardless which one on our roster is the first to go, there are blatant needs on our roster... So far we have signed a few to future contracts and a couple free agent signings, but nothing to write home about...

So if or when we clean up the cap space which position is in dire need of a veteran or two free agent signing and who should we target... For me we need at least one corner veteran albeit we could use more than one um but believe this position will be a target in the draft as well as free agency... Two names to watch out for are Trumaine Johnson (L.A. Rams) we did just hire one of their coaches who coached Trumaine last season who became quietly one of the top corners in the league and the other is A.J. Bouye from the Houston Texans a product connected to the Texan's then director of scouting now general manager for us Mike Maccagnan... If we clear the cap maybe we can afford to sign both of them, but it is highly unlikely we get both or either...

Of course we have issues throughout the roster, it's not because we don't lack of the talent it is because the players are not up to speed or the lack of continuity throughout the positions were lacking... This could be due to lack of leadership, or desire but whatever it is, we are on the right track on overhauling this roster more this off season... Veterans signings that were signed when this regime took over are with one foot out the door if they have not performed to expectations... Reason I am saying that players signed two off seasons ago only had two years worth of guarantees that are up this off season and could be moved on from the team without any or minimal dead loss...

So what say you, which position (single position) needs the most attention this off season via free agency and/or the draft?

LT, CB and TE.

Single position they will focus on in free agency will be Corner...

The other two likely to be had in the draft...

Brandon Bostick a RFA will likely return, Austin S. Jenkins under contract leaves us with a need which can be gotten through the draft...

There really is no left tackle worthy in free agency not saying they can not trade for someone who will be on the trade block like they did with Clady... And Clady right now is just an insurance policy until they can see what teams are doing to shed salary cap... Even if the team goes and drafts someone they will still need time to allow that prospect to translate to this level...

Jason La Canfora reporting the Jets are interested in retaining Ryan Clady, but not at 10 million per year. I seriously doubt anyone gives an injury prone player that much in FA.

We might be seeing Clady at LT next season.

If for whatever reason he is back, I'd bet a lot of money he won't be playing 16 games.

I see the logic in retaining him as there really isnt a franchise LT out there and a draft pick would have to be groomed. I'am betting he'll be back with the Jets at a possible $4 mi for the '17 season.

Makes a bunch of sense if you can get him at that price. Would have to draft a guy like Ramczyk, Bolles or Garcia to be the long term solution.

I hope we get a top fa corner, a safety if not sold on Revis, a clutch receiver like garcon. Draft fournette, or the corner based on who mac is more confident in. Linebacker in the second, o line or d line in 3rd.

On Mike Francesa, b Marshall was very down on himself and said he wouldn't pay himself his salary because he's not elite. 700 yards isn't elite. Maybe we could re work him for 3 or 4 million and sign a garcon. With the kids wrs learning, that would be a tremendous wr core for a young qb.
