Shame, he seemed to be playing well... Looks like we've found a good player for next year at least!

If the name Brandon Bostick rings a bell -- he is the guy that botched the onside kick for GB in the NFC CG last season.

Possibly, but a Lisfranc can be a very serious injury which requires a year plus to heal properly. With a bubble player like Catapano the most likely out come is an injury settlement, and a release.

He made a huge mistake but that dude handled it with class. Deserves a second chance... Not sure he'll stick but seems like a good guy

I thought reports said it was a low grade non severe Lisfranc and he could be healed up in about 6 weeks... Injury settlement is a possibility but if that's the case and the injury isn't severe, I say we keep him and have him on the roster come training camp...

Bowles sounded like it wasn't gonna be a major injury

''This will probably be a couple weeks,'' Bowles said. ''I don't know whether we'll shut him down or not.''

This was from yesterday I believe

Agreed. I'm surprised though, i thought he had been signed by Minnesota. I read an article he wrote recently, saying he knew his assignment but with the ball coming towards him instinct just took over. Apparently he got a ton of harassment, death threats even.

I wish nothing but the best for the guy, hope he can contribute something for our team.

That was the very first statement Bowles gave on the injury. Of course he was hopeful. Since then the the Docs confirmed it was a Lisfranc, Catapano wanted a second opinion, and seemingly with the IR the second Doc confirmed it. He'll probably need surgery.

Lisfranc is one of those injuries that can end a players career on the spot. I have no idea what the severity of the injury is, but the new league year begins in early March, that's only 3 months away. Likely hood of them giving him a new contract is very slight.

Never know what's going to happen, but right now if I had to bet on Catapano being on the roster next year, I'd bet against it.

Agreed. Read an article about the guy recently -- seems like a good guy and he handled it really well. May as well give him a shot, not like we are loaded at TE.

He is low draft pick level player that worked his way on to the roster. Not all lisfranc injuries are severe. It would be shocking if he was not on the roster. They would have just waived/injured him now. They chose to keep his rights

I hope he is back, he showed some promise. Just don't see him being ready for camp next year being as late as it is in the season. If he is, great.

Depends on how severe the injury is. Not all Lisfranc injuries require surgery -- if it requires surgery, then it would appear training camp would be in jeopardy. From the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society:

What are treatment options?

If the ligaments and the bones in the middle of the foot are not severely injured, and bones are not shifted out of their normal positions, non-surgical treatment can be successful with casting. A cast may be needed for six weeks. Your orthopaedic foot and ankle specialist will follow up regularly with X-rays to make sure the bones maintain their good position during the recovery. If the bones or ligaments are injured in a way that causes them to shift out of their normal positions, surgery may be necessary to restore the anatomy of the foot. Surgery may involve the placement of plates and screws that may be removed later, once the bones and ligaments have healed.

How long is recovery after surgery?

Recovery from Lisfranc surgery depends in part on the severity of the injury. For most cases of surgery, patients will be in a cast and not be able to put weight on the foot for six weeks, followed by six weeks in a walking boot. Physical therapy may be needed to strengthen the foot and ankle and help regain walking ability. Return to maximal function, running and sports can take about one year.

Yeah

The key to that is the last sentence. For a normal person, an MCl, Achilles, or Listfranc, may be close to normal in a very short time (few months)

For an NFL player, he may be able to walk fine, and have a very normal life, but his career may be over. The stress put on those injuries by a large NFL player is extreme.

Right now I'm going to expect the worst, if he is ready for camp, like I said, Great
