When this team is successful the defensive line are running stunts to free the linebackers to shoot the gaps, which is fine but consistency in this type of scheme opens up the screens and slant routes that will take advantage of our over-aggressiveness... Our outside linebackers and defensive line should be able to stunt inside out to clog the running lanes while collapsing the pocket against opponents... From what was a strength on our team now is a weakness... It isn't on anyone individual player but the group itself... Our pass defense is lights out dominate, in a passing league we need to defend the pass but getting run over every week is troubling...

Mo Wilk seems like he isn't doing anything but he is staying home and playing his position plugging the lanes with Leonard Williams whom unfortunately stagnant himself in production... Bringing in Stinson showed that there is a lack of depth on the d line, we showed a good pass rush with Kony Ealy hope he isn't hurt long time... My question is where is Mclendon, suppose to be our run stopper and he has been invisible all season...

I said this before, move Wilkerson to nose tackle full time and go with the nickel defense bringing Leo to his real position of defensive tackle... Jordan Jenkins along with Kony Ealy as our bookends making both Demario Davis and Darron Lee options at Rush Linebacker utilizing their speed on the outside and over the middle...

When Josh Martin comes back can split time with Freddie Bishop at the other outside linebacker spot on passing downs otherwise we can utilize three man safety sets or add additional corners in coverage...

It all starts from up front and we need to fix this problem and make our defense well rounded and the focus of our team and the offense will continue to get chances because our defense will make the stops to get the ball back often...

Just my 2 cents...

Our line has been disappointing to say the least. No pressure!

Something lacking in our run stopping ability for sure. Let's hope they fix it fast.

I truly think to maximize the talent from this defense:

LB/DE Jordan Jenkins DT Leonard Williams NT/DT Mo WIlkerson LB/DE Kony Ealy should be the front four in a nickel base defense which either LB/DE can stand up into a base 3-4...

Just because we have both outside linebackers playing defensive end, we will have the speed from both middle linebackers in Demario Davis and Darron Lee both on the field opening the door to have a third linebacker, an additional safety or corner on field at any given time...

In the 3-4 defense both Jenkins and Ealy are responsible to set the edge from two different positions, this way they will contain the edge while allowing both Leo and Mo free penetration to attack the offensive line while gap control is being contained by the middle linebackers and edge rushers (LB/DE)...

Both safeties are run defenders but are athletic enough to play side line to side line, I have to believe former NFL safety Todd Bowles could dream up under over coverage with secondary and middle linebackers not only to contain the run but continue the dominance against pass...

Backups for the interior lineman would be Pennel behind Leo and Mclendon behind Mo gives us the quality depth we need... As for behind Ealy and Jenkins we have a mix in Bishop if he stays on the roster, then this is where they can cute using both Lawrence Thomas and Ed Stinson... Bruce Carter, Julian Stanford would backup Davis and Lee at middle linebacker...

Have to believe this layout could fix our issues... Now who knows if they are even contemplating a change or hoping these fools will get with it and get more aggressive at the point of attack...

First of all, I am not making any excuses, but not having Kony Ealy made things harder. Also, Toilet lined Leo against Joe Thomas. Well, Thomas totally dominated Leo. Made Leo his bitch. And 3rd, we still have issues with Darron Lee. He had a f few nice plays in today's game, but that was only he didn't have to shed a block. I also figure he guessed which gap to shoot on those plays? He's pretty dumb as it turns out in regards to football intelligence. Even if he manages to get himself lined up correctly, he's spent most of this season not realizing what's happening in front of him.

The positive is they had a great week defending the run against the Dolphins. So the point is, we know this defense can shut down the run.

The only changes I would make is to replace Darron Lee and not line up our best DL against the opponents best lineman. Toilet needs to learn to move guys around and keep the opponent guessing.

From there this is all about coaching? Everyone knew after last week that they needed to sure up the run defense and stop committing penalties. Based on their performance, it doesn't look like they even talked about it. Allowing 144 yards per game on the ground and the team committing 15 penalties for 140 yards will never be acceptable. If the Jets had been playing any other team besides the Browns, they would have lost.
