Should the Jets trade George Fant this offseason?

George Fant has been an outstanding signing for general manager Joe Douglas over his two years in green. In his first year as a starter with the Jets, Fant graded out at a mediocre level overall but was solid in pass protection. This season, Fant has taken his pass protection to the next level.

Fant is one of only three tackles in the NFL who have allowed fewer than 20 pressures and no more than one sack while protecting on over 500 snaps. He is joined by only Trent Williams and Brian O’Neill.

Thoughts?

I don't have next gen stats on him. But the sack % has gone up this season with no change in the pocket time. Whether or not JD should trade him depends on what is offered for him. My other feeling is if Fant is making JD look good then JD should keep him. But I don't agree that he has been outstanding.

I would consider it if the offer is right. He’s a better LT than right and since Becton is penciled in at LT, Fant is tradable.

I would prefer keeping him as an insurance policy. His presence gives Joe flexibility, which we know he loves. That likely is more valuable than the pick he might net.

Fant was pretty bad in year one but seems to thrive in this blocking scheme. Was the best O lineman on the team last season ,possibly the best offensive player. I'd prefer to keep him. Let him mentor our draft pick . I'm not convinced Becton will stay healthy for 17 games given his struggles to do so in years one and two.
