Did you see that play last night, when the DE or OLB came off Sam's blindside untouched, like he was shot out of a cannon, and he hit Sam so hard it looked like he killed him?

Making sure THAT never, ever happens again is our biggest need, unless you want Sam giving Andrew Luck press conferences in his 20's too.

Totally agree. I had to listen on the radio. Pretty sure the guys doing the game on the radio agree too after that play. They kept wondering when Gase would sit Sam to save his life

I remember Ham ,Jones was a good QB but not on the level of Luck.. He had one great year 1976 he threw for over 3,000 yds just twice but he did have a LB'er mentality which is why he had only 3 years where he played the whole season. He always seemed to play well against the Jets.. https://www.pro-football-reference.c...J/JoneBe00.htm
First, long time no see. I hope all is well.

As for Jones, stats from the mid 70's can't even be compared to stats from today, different game, it's apples and oranges.

In those day you could use QB's for target practice and mug WR's. When Namath threw for 4000 Yards (in the AFL) it was spectacular, the kind of thing people thought they might never see, because it never did until then, and though we may romanticize the 70's, high scoring games were pretty rare. Most games were like 17-10 or thereabouts, because the RB's were almost as important as the QB's. Marino and Fouts really broke the mold, they continued what Namath was doing when healthy and took it to another level, but that's why they are in the HOF and Bert Jones isn't. He could throw with either of them. Problem is, no more than five years into his career he was so beaten up that he was already a shell of his former self. The whole second half of his career he was essentially playing hurt. Broken ribs, torn AC Joint in his throwing shoulder etc. He kept playing, but he wasn't the same QB.

If the colts were smart they would trade the Saints for Teddy Bridgewater. Saints apparently have another QB on the roster they like as much as Teddy and I think we all can agree Teddey looked good last year before we traded him.

Agee GJ&H. I have also always been an advocate for overinvesting in having the best offensive line to protect by far your most important asset. The Pats have always understood this and that's why Brady can play when he's ancient. The good thing is I finally feel like we got a GM who also understands that, especially being a former offensive lineman. It wouldn't shock me if we draft 3 OL's next year and pick up a few in free agency. Protect Darnold is priority number 1...

That had nothing to do with him beating anyone. It wasn't a matchup issue. It was a numbers issue. They sent one more guy than the Jets had in to protect, and he came in clear off the edge.

The Jets problems on the o-line last season were more run blocking oriented than pass protection. The stats back that up. And 3/5 of the starters weren’t even playing. Kalil, KO and Winters is an entirely different interior line.

The Colts o-lines in Lucks first couple of years were garbage. He’s a pocket passer and got his brains beaten in, much like Alex Smith in his first few years with that rag tag o-line. The Jets line isn’t nearly that bad, and anyone who tries to say that it is....is wrong. And Darnold’s escapability and feet are way better than Luck.

Luck was a sitting duck his first few years.

Exactly. Mac was a genius not wasting millions on the o line

This is idiotic. A few trolls can’t STFU about Maccagnan, a GM who’s not even here anymore. It brings the discussion down to Neanderthal levels. It’s a shame because most posters here are top notch. But a few trolls are unhinged, and just thrive on stirring up shit. A few DICKHEADS have to have the last word. Lame.

Goodbye. I’m not doing this anymore.

I'm sure you are speaking about me also, but Mac's handy work is all over this roster both good and bad. Mac will be talked about until Douglas and Gase are able to fix all the bad moves and missteps Mac did which will take a few years. I think Cheater was just making a joke about Mac's lack of attention to the OL which can not be disputed. I know for one I've never called you a name for your defense of Mac. This is a forum where we all have different views on everything from Mac to politics. I hope we can all just disagree and be fine with jokes that are made. Listen, I've been called out many times for my hatred of Mac as a GM and for my views on Baker. I was very adamant about Baker's attitude and his ability. I admitted I was wrong about Baker's ability, but I still think the jury is out. His attitude has been proven time after time. As far as Mac goes there are a few successes, but he had way more failures. If they win the SB I will admit that he built a championship roster. I know they won't and I think at best he built a .500 roster with giant holes. I can handle being called names because I've been called way worse by way better people. I just don't want this forum to sink to the levels of becoming personal.

Real nice budddy. It's actually called having a sense of humor which you clearly have none. I actually didn't hate Mac. But truth is he didn't do enough for the offensive line as everyone but you had made light of here.

take your meds and calm down and learn to laugh a little and no need to call people names who don't see things like you do. Pretty childish

Thanks Tebow. For the record, I don't consider you to be a Neanderthal dickhead like me but if you want to join my Neanderthal sickness club, send me a pm. We have plenty of food and beer at the meetings. And a big Mac pinata too
