Taysir Mack Scouting Report

Taysir Mack often used on deep routes, getting separation down the sideline or over the middle on crossing routes by extending his arms rather than pure speed. He plays with good effort and technique as a blocker for his size. He can beat the press with elusiveness or physical contact. He runs crisp routes with sharp cuts.

Taysir has long arms to stiff arm defensive backs in the open field. He is willing to lower his pads to run through tackles for extra yardage. He goes over the middle, can spin out of tackles and take the big hit. He does not possess top breakaway speed, though he is rarely caught from behind.

Mack has the strong hands any NFL wide receiver coach and quarterback would covet. He tracks the deep ball over either shoulder and brings the passes fluidly without breaking stride downfield. He has good body strength to squirm out of tackles with coordination to maneuver his frame between defenders. He does a nice job locating and tracking deep passes and is a legitimate vertical threat.

Taysir is willing to go up and attack the ball. He is a versatile weapon, proving to be effective inside in the slot and outside on the perimeter. He makes plays at all levels of the field.

Areas for Improvement

Taysir does not always use his hands to secure deep throws, allowing the ball into his pads and chest. He does not have elite speed to burn by defenders. He does not drop his hips to get in position while blocking. He fails to take correct angles to his man. He comes off the snap high and upright.

Mack does not get to top speed quickly. He is not a burner or consistent vertical threat. He has a lanky frame and will be overmatched physically by most cornerbacks in the NFL. He needs to be more competitive in tight coverage. He does not explode off the line of scrimmage and runs with long strides.

Taysir's hands are good, not great. He will drop some easy balls and sometimes will body catch. He occasionally fails to high point the ball. He freezes at times when trying to juke defenders in space. He walls off his man as a blocker, allowing them to shed and make the play outside. He is inconsistent high pointing passes. He allows too many throws into his body facing the quarterback.
