Yeah, I'm not getting the enthusiasm for this one-year QB. Why can't we try to get a guy who will be FQB for eight years like every other franchise? We'll draft someone next year, I hear you say. So the job of Mr One-Year is to win enough games to push us down the draft order so we can't take a top guy without giving up the farm in a trade.

We right now have 10-12 legitimate rooster holes with no one to fill them.
Where are you getting your 8 year FQB from? There isn't a QB in this draft worth a top 20 pick let alone multiple picks to trade up for . FQBs don't get let go by their teams. There's a reason why there are multiple teams every year looking for a QB.
Not to mention the financial ramifications.
The one year QB is to help develop this years rookies under a competent QB. Someone who can run the new offense so FA additions can learn the system. The o line can gain some continuity.
Or we can do it your way. Trade the farm this year, and ruin a rookie who should have never seen the field like we have done the last couple of decades.
I believe we should fill as many holes as possible in this Draft and free agency, draft a QB next year then fill remaining holes in next year's free agency and draft so If that rookie has to start, he is surrounded by a quality roster and set up to succeed, not set up to fail

Both ways are not great

I don't advocate trading up, it is usually a bad move. I would like to trade down so we can draft a right tackle for the right tackle spot rather than a left tackle and have extra picks.

Looking at the QBs taken last year even down to Rattler at #150 other franchises have put them on the field at some point. Not everyone is Zach Wilson. Sure you'd like them to sit out the first few games, but Tyrod can play those. If Tyrod is a china doll then we shouldn't keep him on the roster.

He's a back up. Cutting him saves 300 thousand. The Rodgers experiment put this team in a financial mess. Had he delivered,it would have been worth it. So save 300k and spend another 5-6 million minimum on a competent backup?
Your actually making my argument for me.
If they like some QB in the later rounds and want to gamble on that's reasonable, but expecting them to become a FQB is not.

Why would we spend 5-6 million on a competent backup? In other franchises the young draftee IS the backup and he comes in if the veteran starter gets injured; you don't find out if the guy is any good without playing him. If he wets the bed THEN you replace him with another vet, though I would trust Martinez to hold the fort for a week or two. You say Tyrod is too fragile to be the starter.

In the old days I always said your starter should be between 26 to 34 your backup from 35 to 38 & your third string from 22 to 24 in a perfect world

We obviously disagree on QB strategy for the upcoming season so let's move on. There are plenty of thread on the subject. How do you feel about the rest of the roster?

Team need this off season

But every jets season is an off season.
+ We need off this season
This is really a pivotal off-season for this team.
Hopefully not another media campaign where we win the off season with a big name addition that makes a bottom feeder into a fictional Super Bowl contender.
I'm hoping to come away with the feeling that those are solid FA additions and a solid draft . Vs we signed David Becktari out of retirement, best lineman ever, and coaxed Joe Montana to come back to win the championship 🏆.

How do I feel about the rest of the roster? Assuming 'Right End' is 'Tight End' it seems we need to fix every position except LT, IOL and RB. My priorities are RT and DT, stop the run and reestablish our own running game. Some of these positions are going to have to be filled by guys on the roster stepping up. Max Mitchell might have to be the swing tackle and we might have to hope that Corley gains some traction under the new coaching staff. And that JJ can return healthy.

It should have been Tight end.
I'm on board with both RT and DT. Both major needs. Mitchell is a liability but he may be the only answer this season, we can't fill all the holes in one season.
I think our run game will see a large improvement minus Rodgers. He constantly called his own plays and preferred passing plays. I know his stats look nice, but we lead the league in pass percentage and never got the run game established .
I really hope JJ comes back healthy, I'm a big fan of him.
