Yeah, I'm not getting the enthusiasm for this one-year QB. Why can't we try to get a guy who will be FQB for eight years like every other franchise? We'll draft someone next year, I hear you say. So the job of Mr One-Year is to win enough games to push us down the draft order so we can't take a top guy without giving up the farm in a trade.
We right now have 10-12 legitimate rooster holes with no one to fill them.
Where are you getting your 8 year FQB from? There isn't a QB in this draft worth a top 20 pick let alone multiple picks to trade up for . FQBs don't get let go by their teams. There's a reason why there are multiple teams every year looking for a QB.
Not to mention the financial ramifications.
The one year QB is to help develop this years rookies under a competent QB. Someone who can run the new offense so FA additions can learn the system. The o line can gain some continuity.
Or we can do it your way. Trade the farm this year, and ruin a rookie who should have never seen the field like we have done the last couple of decades.
I believe we should fill as many holes as possible in this Draft and free agency, draft a QB next year then fill remaining holes in next year's free agency and draft so If that rookie has to start, he is surrounded by a quality roster and set up to succeed, not set up to fail
